Exploring the Viral “44 That’s Me” TikTok Trend Inspired by NFL Player’s Geico Commercial

A new TikTok trend pays homage to a decade-old Geico commercial, which creative users have transformed into a hilarious and viral phenomenon.

Although his NFL career has long since ended, Ickey Woods’ Geico commercial from 2014 is re-emerging in TikTok’s latest trend, “44, that’s me.”

In the iconic commercial, former NFL player Ickey Woods is seen eagerly waiting for his turn at the deli to order his cold cuts.

Once his number is announced, he steps away from his grocery cart to perform his famous ‘Ickey Woods shuffle’ – a celebratory dance he was known for after scoring a touchdown during his NFL career with the Cincinnati Bengals from 1988 to 1991.

He enthusiastically shouts, “Wooo! 44, that’s me! Wooo! Give me some!” while playfully slamming his groceries to the ground, reminiscent of how he would celebrate a touchdown.

Even though the commercial originally aired in 2014, TikTok users are now popularizing the accompanying audio as thousands join the viral trend.

In this trend, one person stands silently in front of the camera while another person hides behind them until the audio cue, “Woo! 44, that’s me!” is played. A text overlay is then added to highlight their unique dynamic.

For instance, TikToker Big Sam shared his own spin on the trend, stating, “You’re 7’3″ , your dad must be tall.”

In his video, Big Sam stands on his front steps, towering over his dad, who playfully dances behind him as the audio plays.

Anna Vogt also showcased her version of the “44, that’s me” TikTok trend, humorously suggesting, “You’ll probably end up with someone the same height as you.”

Standing confidently in front of the camera with a smirk, Anna’s boyfriend positioned himself far behind her and joined in when the audio played, highlighting their height difference.

Some TikTokers have opted to join the trend solo. For example, User ‘nicki.boi’ shared a relatable and amusing interpretation.

When the audio stated “number 44,” he humorously typed, “Her texting me ‘good morning’ after waking up at 1 pm.” As the audio played, “Woo! 44, that’s me,” he wrote, “Me, who’s been up since 8 am waiting for her text,” followed by dancing in celebration.

While the “44, that’s me” trend has produced numerous entertaining remakes, it is not the only viral sensation on TikTok.

Another trending phenomenon is TikTok’s ‘one million beers’ fad, where users humorously ask for “one million beers, please,” often while using the attractive filter. Although they aren’t seriously ordering that much, it has become a delightful and entertaining trend on the platform.
