Joe Russo has recently provided an optimistic update on the status of Netflix’s Extraction 3, revealing that there is only one remaining detail to sort out before the project can move forward.
It has been officially announced that Extraction 3 is currently in production at Netflix, bringing good news to fans of the adrenaline-fueled action series.
The first two movies in the action series were written by Joe Russo (of the Russo Brothers). In an interview with GamesRadar+, Russo stated that he will be back to write the screenplay for the third installment. He also mentioned that progress is already underway, with the only obstacle being the coordination of schedules for all involved parties.

They also confirmed that Sam Hargrave will be returning as the director. The franchise is unique in that the main character is emotionally damaged, providing rich storytelling opportunities to explore his past and his relationship with violence, which is rooted in self-hatred and remorse. This added depth allows for more storytelling possibilities.
The Extraction franchise has been a resounding success for Netflix, as the initial film garnered approximately 135.7 million views, cementing its place as one of the top-viewed movies on the platform. Similarly, Extraction 2 also achieved impressive numbers, raking in 129.3 million views within the first 66 days of its release.
The film Extraction, adapted from the graphic novel Ciudad by Ande Park, centers around the character of Tyler Rake, a black-ops mercenary who risks his life on dangerous rescue missions. In the first installment, Rake successfully saves the son of an Indian drug lord. In the sequel, he takes on a mission closer to his own heart as he rescues a family in peril.
