F1 24 is removing its predecessors’ most controversial feature

In preparation for the release of F1 24, Codemasters has taken into account fan criticism regarding F1 Life and has removed one of the mode’s controversial elements present in the previous two games.

F1 22 and F1 23 both faced criticism for their implementation and expansion of the F1 Life game mode. EA promoted this feature as a way for players to immerse themselves in the luxurious lifestyle of Formula 1 drivers.

Despite its inclusion, the feature was met with criticism from long-term franchise fans who questioned its popularity. This was a common theme in numerous reviews, including our own, which stated that its addition showed clear influence from EA. This was especially noteworthy as F1 22 was the first installment to be released without the backing of the AAA publisher.

Despite the fact that F1 24 is moving away from F1 Life and eliminating supercars completely, this decision has been confirmed by Senior Creative Director Lee Mather.

In an interview with Overtake, Mather disclosed that the decision has been made to temporarily remove supercars from F1 24. This allows them to concentrate on enhancing the authenticity of the game, which is their main goal for this year.

During the interview, Lee Mather acknowledged that supercars did not meet Codemasters’ expectations in terms of success. However, the Senior Creative Director stands by their decision to include them in the game for that year. He did not seem to regret their initial inclusion.

Despite this, there will not be a comeback of supercars in F1 24. Instead, the latest Formula 1 game prioritizes enhancing the driving experience through improvements in the car’s aerodynamics, tuning, and overall feel, as shown in the official gameplay deep dive trailer.
