Facehuggers Invade Comic-Con in Terrifying Promotion for Upcoming Alien Film

It appears that Alien: Romulus may dethrone Longlegs as the most well-promoted film of 2024, as Comic-Con attendees were “assaulted”by facehuggers.

At San Diego Comic-Con this year, the focus was on villains, as Marvel’s major panel announced Robert Downey Jr.’s return to the MCU. However, this time he will be taking on the role of the legendary supervillain, Doctor Doom.

Despite Romulus also being present at the event, certain attendees were met with the fury of the signature aliens.

During the Con, some guests were captured on footage being attacked by what appeared to be genuine face huggers. Unfortunately, others were also targeted by chestbursters, drawing a lot of attention from bystanders.

The clear intention of the marketing tactic is to promote the upcoming release of Alien: Romulus, scheduled for August 16, 2024. Taking place on the space station Renaissance, the horror film is set between the events of Alien and Aliens.

Despite the stiff competition, Alien: Romulus has gained the admiration of fans thanks to its impressive practical effects.

“According to a user on X, the return of authentic marketing is evident. This sentiment was echoed by others who expressed their excitement about the recent trend of horror movie promotions, although some did admit to initial concerns.”

“Another person exclaimed, “What amazing marketing! It’s truly a sight to see!”according to a tweet.”

Fede Álvarez directs Alien Romulus, featuring Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, and Isabela Merced. The film was initially set to be released on Hulu but will now hit theaters on August 16, 2024.
