In the past few weeks, the original Jujutsu Kaisen manga series by author and illustrator Gege Akutami has been filled with turmoil, as Ryomen Sukuna and Yuji Itadori and their allies constantly clash. This tension reached its peak in the latest issue, where Sukuna was seen gearing up to use his powerful “Fuga”flame technique on the remaining survivors after his Domain Expansion.
Despite the week-long break for the series after the jaw-dropping cliffhanger, the majority of Jujutsu Kaisen fans are experiencing extreme anxiety and restlessness while eagerly anticipating what will unfold in the next episode. On the other hand, some fans have turned to scouring the depths of the internet for potential theories and speculations on how Sukuna’s defeat may be achieved.
The recent discussion among Jujutsu Kaisen fans has been sparked by an elusive YouTube comment that has been difficult to trace. According to this comment, there is a “Chinese sorcerer”in the series who is feared by Sukuna. This has caused fans to question the authenticity of this information and whether it is based on canon or merely a fan-created speculation.
Jujutsu Kaisen: The Absence of a Chinese Sorcerer That Frightens Sukuna (For Now)
At the time of writing this article, there is no mention of a Chinese sorcerer in Jujutsu Kaisen that Ryomen Sukuna is afraid of. The author of the YouTube comment may have been referring to a created character in the series known as a “fanon,”but this is uncertain.
In the Fanon Wiki for the series, which serves as a wiki site for the most popular fan fiction, there is a character named Chi-Lang, described as a Chinese sorcerer. According to his Fanon Wiki page, he is a Grade 1 sorcerer who attends Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical College and is referred to as “The Dragon of Japan.”
Chi-Lang was allegedly born in China, where he acquired knowledge of martial arts and his clan’s ancestral Cursed Technique, The Great Flame. He then relocated to Tokyo with the intention of broadening his understanding of the world. Upon arrival, he enrolled in Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical College to hone his skills as a sorcerer. According to his wiki page, there are speculations that even Sukuna, a renowned figure, is afraid of him. This is where the notion of this being confirmed information may have originated.
Similarly, the fact that his Cursed Technique is named The Great Flame and focuses on creating and manipulating flames is the reason why he has gained significant attention among fans. With Sukuna also possessing a flame-based Cursed Technique and preparing to use it, fans may have come across Chi-Lang’s Fanon Wiki page while searching for information on the roots of Sukuna’s power.
Similarly, the speculation surrounding Sukuna’s fear of Chi-Lang sparked even more debate about the character, possibly stemming from comparisons between their respective abilities. In other words, many fans believed that if Chi-Lang were a real character, Sukuna would naturally fear him due to their shared use of flame-based Cursed Techniques.
Despite this, the character is not considered canon, indicating that at the time of writing this article, there is no Chinese sorcerer in the series that Sukuna is rumored to be afraid of. While there is a possibility that Gege Akutami may introduce one before the series concludes, as of the week after the official release of chapter 258, this has not yet occurred.
