Fallout Series Plot: What Should You Expect?
The games are set in the United States in 2077, after a nuclear war. Largely destroyed, humanity has taken refuge in makeshift colonies as mutated creatures have taken over the wasteland. From Washington DC to what remains of Las Vegas, the franchise has taken its players on a journey.
At this point, the studios have yet to reveal exactly which parts of the Fallout mythology will be adapted. It must be said that the franchise has quite a bit of substance, between its four main games and its numerous spin-offs.
But we can already make assumptions, thanks to the first images exclusive to Collider and Vanity Fair: we can see the Super Duper Mart, a famous food store. Amazon also revealed that part of the series would take place in Vault 33, located in Los Angeles. Finally, the origin of the franchise’s mascot, Vault Boy, is also expected to be revealed. On the other hand, this particular story could very well be just a detail or a wink for fans.

However, the series should not be a direct adaptation of the games. Todd Howard actually declared in the Lex Fridman Podcast #342: “For this series, we won’t tell the story of a game. It’s more like choosing an area of the map and saying “Let’s tell a story here that fits into the world we’ve built and doesn’t break any of the rules.» It may refer to things from the games, but it is not a transcription. It exists in the same world, but it’s unique in itself, so it adds something to it.”

Images from the filming of the Fallout series revealed
After filming began, a number of images from the set leaked online. They seem to show how closely the series will stay true to the game’s aesthetic, from the narrow corridors of the Vault to the series’ iconic mascot displayed on the propaganda posters.
On top of that, Fallout creators have released behind-the-scenes videos, giving their audience a taste of what to expect from the series and how development is progressing.
The video features the likes of Todd Howard – the director and executive producer at Bethesda and executive producer of the upcoming Prime Video series, Tim Cain (co-creator of the Fallout franchise), and Istvan Pely (art director at Bethesda).
The three appear in the middle of a seemingly innocuous conversation, discussing the timing of the series which seems to be the “right time” for an adaptation. They also express their excitement for fans to see what they are creating.
