One of the most captivating storylines in Tatsuki Fujimoto’s Chainsaw Man manga series is Asa Mitaka’s scheme to “rescue”Denji. This plot holds significant potential for character development for both Asa and Denji, making it one of the most intriguing arcs in the series.
Despite this, Asa’s plan includes another layer that was actually devised by Famine Devil Fami, based on the concept that there exist two distinct versions of Chainsaw Man. One is the transformed Hybrid state that Denji assumes when he pulls the starter, while the other is the “true”hero of hell who was shown battling Makima in the concluding chapters of the manga’s first part.
The main objective of Fami and Asa’s plan is to engage in a battle with Denji, emerge as the victors, extract Pochita the Chainsaw Devil (who is now Denji’s heart) from his body, and replace it with a regular human heart. Their ultimate goal is to defeat the real Chainsaw Man and advance their own agenda. However, in order to execute this plan, Fami must first terminate the contract between Denji and Pochita, which is the potential stumbling block based on the limited information she possesses.
Chainsaw Man Chapter 165: Fami’s Failure Caused by Misinformation on Denji and Pochita’s Contract
In chapter 165, Fami asserts to Denji that according to his contract with Pochita, he is supposed to live a normal life. Denji does not object to this and even indirectly confirms it by asking Fami how she knows about their contract. While some fans believe that Fami’s current plan will be successful, recent chapters reveal an important detail that must be considered.
In the 150th chapter, fans witnessed Denji reflecting on the ordinary life he had shared with Nayuta, both at home and during his time in school. This triggered an internal conversation with Pochita, who stated that their “dream had been realized.”In simpler terms, the terms of their initial agreement, which was for Denji to lead a regular life, had been met by this moment.
Pochita’s question to Denji about his future dreams, followed by his declaration of wanting to be Chainsaw Man, serves as additional evidence for this idea. However, the conversation ends there, leaving readers without any further information about the details of Denji and Pochita’s new contract. In other words, despite Fami’s strong belief in her knowledge and the plan she devised based on it, she is actually unaware of the specifics of their new contract.
Similarly, Fami’s plan relies on the assumption that she can violate the terms of Denji and Pochita’s current contract. However, with the emergence of a new contract with undisclosed terms, it is improbable that Fami’s original plan to terminate the previous contract will be successful.
Therefore, her strategy to defeat the true Chainsaw Man, the legendary hero of the underworld, will ultimately fail because she lacks the ability to lure him out of Denji. As a result, she will be unable to carry out her promise to Asa of replacing Denji’s heart and saving him. This may not directly affect Fami as there is no official agreement between them, but it will undoubtedly cause tension and disrupt Fami’s greater objectives.
