NHK announced on June 1st that Maya Yano, the singer and guitarist of the renowned Japanese band TUYU, had been arrested for attempted murder.
Maya Yano was arrested immediately after he called the police and ambulance to report stabbing his underage girlfriend with a knife while she slept. The police arrived at the scene and found the weapon used by the male singer next to the bed. The girlfriend was then rushed to the hospital due to severe blood loss.
At the police station, Maya Yano confessed to committing a crime. The male singer admitted that his original plan was to murder his girlfriend and then take his own life. He stated, “I attacked her while she was sleeping. There is no excuse for my actions. My intention was to fatally stab her in the chest and then end my own life.”When questioned about the reason behind his actions, Maya Yano explained that it was impulsive.
The officials are anticipating the victim’s recovery from surgery so that an investigation into the incident can be conducted. The public has been outraged and has strongly condemned Maya Yano’s heinous and malicious behavior.
Maya Yano, who is currently 30 years old, began his music career in 2012 as a singer and animation music producer. He then went on to form the band TUYU and in January 2023, he established his own entertainment agency to manage both his solo endeavors and promote the band.
