Famous Male Singer Shares His Experience with Breed Scam

On May 12th, Wheesung shared a lengthy message on his Instagram, revealing, “I want to clarify that Bboongie was actually purchased from a pet store.”

During his explanation, he mentioned that he had been asked numerous times why he had not adopted an abandoned dog. At the time, he was not familiar with the adoption process. However, as more and more people continued to question him about adoption, he came to understand how it was perceived by others.

Wheesung, who purchased his pet dog from a pet store in Gangnam, expressed his disappointment, stating, “The shop’s advertising tactics were convincing. They promised a full refund if the dog turned out to be not purebred. However, upon bringing Bboongie home, I found that the staff at the store were unable to confidently answer my questions. Despite being labeled as a poodle, there were several characteristics that did not match those of a poodle. It wasn’t until later that I discovered Bboongie is actually a maltipoo.”

Additionally, he noted that his previous pet dog was a mixed breed as well, and he does not have any specific preferences when it comes to breeds.

Wheesung stated, “My main intention was to adopt a healthy dog. However, if I had been someone who was particular about breeds, the fate of this dog would have been uncertain. This is an important matter to ponder upon. Whenever I take this dog for a walk, I am constantly bombarded with inquiries about its breed. It can be irritating to constantly hear about breed traits from others. This dog is my hero.”

His main intention behind this post was to urge potential dog owners to carefully consider their decision before impulsively bringing home a specific breed. He mentioned that he needed to go for registration updates and promised to regularly share updates about his beloved dog, Bboongie, in the future, highlighting his deep love for his pet.

In 2020, Wheesung was charged with habitual propofol use and indicted without detention. The court then sentenced him to a one-year prison term, which was suspended for two years. As part of his sentence, he was also required to complete 40 hours of community service and attend 40 hours of drug treatment lectures.

During that period, his agency disclosed that Wheesung was undergoing treatment for depression, panic disorder, and other mental health conditions.

In December 2021, Wheesung held a Christmas concert and reunited with his fans. He also celebrated his 20th debut anniversary by holding a fan meeting and concert in late 2022.
