Fan receives backlash for trying to kiss BTS Jin at fan meet and greet

A BTS fan, known as an ARMY, is receiving criticism after attempting to kiss Jin during his three-hour-long hug event.

On June 12, 2024, Jin was released from his mandatory military service, making him the first member of BTS to complete his service. His discharge took place at the training center of the 5th Infantry Division in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi Province, where he also served as an assistant instructor during his time in the military.

In honor of his comeback as a member of BTS, Jin made an appearance at the 2024 BTS FESTA event on June 13. The venue for the event was the Jamsil Arena in Seoul, where the idol was able to reunite with his devoted ARMYs.

The purpose of the event was to commemorate BTS’s debut anniversary. As the sole BTS member currently active and not enlisted in mandatory military service, Jin organized a special hugging session where he hugged 1,000 fans.

During the event, Jin caught everyone’s attention with an adorable sign that simply read “Hug me.”Fans were in awe of his youthful visuals and new short hairstyle. The venue was filled with ARMYs from all over the world, all dressed in purple to commemorate BTS’s 11th year since their debut.

Despite the majority of fans showing their respect in a respectful manner, there has been criticism online regarding one particular interaction between an ARMY and Jin.

While the majority of fans hugged Jin and continued on, one fan was observed getting overly intimate with the idol. They embraced him tightly, bringing their face near his ear and allegedly trying to kiss him.

The fan’s behavior caused a wave of anger among internet users, who argued that it was inappropriate and showed a lack of respect for Jin’s personal boundaries, ultimately making him feel uncomfortable.

This occurrence serves as a reminder of the importance of an idol’s personal boundaries. While the event aimed to express gratitude towards fans, it is crucial to acknowledge that idols are real people and not just characters in fans’ imaginations.
