On the night of May 20, a discussion titled “Manipulation of aespa’s view count”was posted on the popular Korean forum Pann Nate. It quickly gained traction, garnering over 50,000 views and nearly 400 comments.
The author of the topic claimed that viewers of aespa’s Karina manipulated the views on her “Supernova” fancam. To support their argument, they compared it to Winter’s fancam and presented it as “evidence.”
Specifically, although Karina’s “Supernova”fancam has over twice as many views as Winter’s, the like count for Karina’s video was significantly lower, indicating that the view count may be exaggerated.
Similarly, the author further emphasized Winter’s interest in the view count by including her reaction to her fancam going viral.
Despite the allegations, some Korean netizens were quick to point fingers at Chinese fans of Karina. However, others found the fixation on view counts to be confusing.
Included here are a few remarks from internet users:
- Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do since it seems to be the nature of Chinese fans… Even Korean fans are bothered by it.
- The fact that the views increased by 3,000 in just 10 seconds are weird, yet the fans continue to ignore it whenever someone points it out
- Who cares? Everyone knows both Winter and Karina are popular
- I hope these view comparison will stop because it will just cause the members to be bitter with each other
- It is important for aespa’s fanbase to handle this matter appropriately as it is quite evident.
