Nexon’s recent patch for The First Descendant includes numerous game improvements that have amazed and pleased the community, demonstrating that Nexon is responsive to player feedback.
Despite its launch, The First Descendant did not receive any recognition for satisfying players.
Despite having a strong player base, many found the process of obtaining Void Shard fragments to be excessive and time-consuming. Some players were even spending hundreds of hours in order to obtain the most powerful characters, and the game’s “Generally Unfavorable”Metacritic score was not helping Nexon’s online shooter gain any positive attention.
Despite its success, Nexon has faced challenges in maintaining positive relationships with its players. In fact, earlier this year, the company was fined a record-breaking $9 million for deceptive microtransactions in their popular game MapleStory.
Thankfully, the latest Hotfix 1.0.3 has effectively tackled a range of concerns raised by the community, such as enhancing the visibility of Void Shards and boosting their drop rates in specific missions. Additionally, the patch incorporates numerous other modifications that have been highly requested by the community since the game’s initial release.
It appears that players are truly surprised by the beneficial updates. During a discussion on Reddit, a player inquired, “Why can’t other gaming companies follow this example?”
Another player also shared this sentiment, stating that “transparency and actively listening to the community’s feedback and taking action on a reasonable timeline”is something that other companies are lacking.
One player interpreted this as an indication of The First Descendant’s potential, stating “I believe Nexon is aiming to establish TFD as their own successful franchise akin to Destiny.”This caused another user to comment, “So they are taking heed of their customers’ concerns in order to retain their loyalty.”
The First Descendant seems to be striving towards the success of a franchise like Destiny. It not only has the support of its player community, but also receives praise from popular Twitch streamer Asmongold, who approves of its microtransactions.
