Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 will be released in a few months, and anime and manga fans both can’t stop talking about Studio MAPPA’s translation online. Everyone has something to say about the new season, from the former fans who speculate about the narrative to the latter who pray and hope for good adaptations of their favorite sequences.
It’s not surprising that fans have been talking a lot about how much censorship will be used in Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 as it’s being produced. Although there was some blood in the first season, the second season’s source material significantly increased the series’ shock value and level of gore.
While some fans express their concerns about censorship, others argue that the season won’t be heavily edited, even providing concrete examples to support their claims.
Warning: The following contains spoilers for the original material from which Jujutsu Kaisen’s second season will be adapted.
The original material for Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 has fans worried that Studio MAPPA will censor it severely.
Fans are understandably anxious about possible censoring difficulties in the second season of MAPPA Studios’ Jujutsu Kaisen television anime. There are numerous instances of blood and gore being heavily used, as Twitter user @hizuknows (Indigo) points out in a tweet. Also, some characters exhibit a particularly sadistic side that can be subject to conversation censoring.
These incidents include Nobara Kugisaki’s alleged demise during the Shibuya Incident Arc, as well as the deaths of Toji Zenin and Kento Nanami. Fans are concerned that censorship is a real possibility because these images frequently go far with blood and gore. This may be a formula for disaster in terms of a faithful adaptation given the series’ enormous popularity.
you HAD TO remind me of that…

I'm more worried about them cutting shit out of the shibuya incident in favor of expanding gojo's past

Honestly they need to make it gorier. I wanna see Nobaras brain spewing out of her eye socket and Tojis guts flopping onto the ground

Why fans can probably relax
There are a few significant pieces of proof that point to Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 being uncensored. The time the series airs in Japan is the one that is the most accurate of them all. The slot in which the series is scheduled to show is utilized by studios for anime “not suitable for children” due to featuring “violent/s*xual content,” as Twitter user and lead series leaker @king jin woo (Myamura) notes.
In addition to this, MAPPA has recently released several extremely nasty and gory anime with what appears to be no censorship at all, as many other fans are pointing out. Prime instances of this include Chainsaw Man, Vinland Saga, Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku, and the first season of Jujutsu Kaisen.
Another argument for censoring made by fans is that the series wouldn’t be the same without the gore.
The fact that they didn't hold back in the slightest in hells paradise or csm is also a reassurance pic.twitter.com/vu2VnksvzQ

Mappa probably not gonna, JJK CSM and Vinland S2 all have had moment with some pretty major gore.

Thank goodness for no censorship, can’t imagine how empty I would feel if I had to go through S2 with all the unimaginable censoring 💀💀

In conclusion
Even though it’s unlikely that fans will know for sure until Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 debuts in July 2023 whether or not the show will be censored, it doesn’t seem to matter.
This impression is further supported by the fact that MAPPA Studios created the animation, the series’ late time slot, and how crucial gore is to the series’ shock factor.
