After being discharged, Jin organized a “hug event”at the Jamsil Arena in Seoul on June 13th, where he warmly embraced 1,000 fans. This event, which was held as part of the “2024 FESTA”celebration for BTS’s 11th debut anniversary, marked Jin’s first in-person appearance since his discharge and garnered a lot of excitement from fans.

Jin received his fans with open arms and a sign that said “Hug me”. While most fans respectfully hugged him and continued on, a few fans were caught on camera trying to kiss Jin on the cheek, sparking public outrage and stirring controversy among the fan community.

The behavior was met with criticism from netizens who expressed their disapproval, stating that it had ruined a meaningful event and constituted sexual harassment, with some even stating that it had crossed the line.

Upon returning, Jin was released from his military duties on June 12th.
