Fans Call Out Seoul City for Blaming IU Over ‘Exclusion of Ground Seats’ Announcement

On the 15th, IU Gallery issued a statement regarding their position. Fans expressed, “While we are relieved that IU’s upcoming concert at the Seoul World Cup Stadium next week will proceed as scheduled, we cannot ignore the inefficiency of Seoul City’s administration.”

They continued, “It is imperative for Seoul City, which manages the Seoul Facilities Corporation, to take accountability for the grass issue and issue an apology to the citizens of Seoul. Instead, they are misrepresenting public opinion, implying that the exclusion of ground seating sales at the World Cup Stadium starting next year is related to the impact of IU’s concert,” clarifying the reason for their statement.

Fans also pointed out, “Seoul Facilities Corporation charges rental fees for events at the World Cup Stadium during both daytime (09:00-18:00) and nighttime (18:00-06:00) hours. Additionally, for cultural events, they take 8% of the organizer’s ticket sales as a separate fee. It is estimated that Seoul Facilities Corporation will generate 1.226 billion won over the two days of IU’s concert.”

Furthermore, they urged, “Instead of distorting the facts with the announcement of ‘excluding ground seat sales,’ Mayor Oh Se-hoon should initiate an audit of the Seoul Facilities Corporation to thoroughly investigate the reason behind the ‘grass management’ issue and implement measures to prevent its recurrence.”
