In a trailer released just before the finale, Deadpool & Wolverine revealed one of its most anticipated cameos, leaving fans surprised.
The latest trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine was released on July 19, just days before the earliest screenings of the film. While there is plenty to see in the trailer, it does reveal a major cameo appearance.
Despite her brief appearance in the trailer, Dafne Keen reprises her role as Laura/X-23, the clone daughter of Wolverine who was first introduced in the 2017 film Logan.
This is just another instance of fans expressing surprise at the fact that the film would reveal such a huge trailer just before its release.
“Are they revealing everything in the trailer now?”one fan expressed in a frustrated tweet. “Why would they spoil the surprise by showing this?”
One person expressed frustration, saying, “Why couldn’t they have saved this for the movie… JFC.”Meanwhile, another pleaded for the movie to pace its reveals, commenting, “Can we slow down with the spoilers or do I have to unfollow for a few weeks?”
Fans were taken aback by Keen’s unexpected appearance. Despite previously stating during press interviews for The Acolyte that she would not be making a cameo, the actress made it clear to OnDemand Entertainment that she would have loved the opportunity, saying, “It would have been incredible to be a part of it, but I’ll happily watch as a fan and to see my old friend in it.”
While it is understandable that some fans may be frustrated with the reveal, it is worth noting that there are also many who are celebrating it. For every comment expressing annoyance about yet another spoiler, there is another expressing excitement for the live-action return of X-23.
Keen’s surprise appearance is just the most recent one to have been revealed or heavily hinted at in the numerous trailers that have been released for Deadpool & Wolverine. We were previously treated to our most extensive glimpse yet of Cowboy Deadpool, which is now rumored to be portrayed by Matthew McConaughey.
The previous reveal of Lady Deadpool in the film has left the casting of her character still undecided. Our curiosity will have to be satisfied when the film is released on July 26, but we already have some speculations.
In the meantime, you can learn more about other upcoming Marvel films such as Captain America 4 or The Fantastic Four.
