Fans Dismiss Leakers Before Dragon Ball Daima Premiere: “This is DRAGON BALL”

Dragon Ball Daima is scheduled for release on October 11, 2024, and the unwavering fandom of the series is filled with excitement for the return of this epic project featuring the legendary Akira Toriyama. As fans eagerly await the comeback of their favorite series, a leaker attempted to spoil the excitement with some unverified information.

The leaks provided some dubious details about the upcoming series, sparking an uproar among fans just days before the premiere. Some speculated that these leaks contributed to the hype surrounding the new series. However, dedicated fans dismissed such claims, asserting that Akira Toriyama’s magnum opus doesn’t rely on leakers for its popularity.

Dragon Ball Daima enthusiasts reject recent claims about the series’ popularity

Geekdom101 is a YouTuber who regularly uploads content related to Akira Toriyama’s monumental series. While his channel doesn’t focus exclusively on leaks, he often shares insider information about the Dragon Ball universe.

On August 12, 2024, Geekdom101 shared a video on Dragon Ball Daima, which included various leaks, including the introduction of a new ‘female’ antagonist and highlighting Vegeta as a central character in the upcoming storyline.

Although the video didn’t gain massive traction, a segment of the fandom accused the YouTuber of being the primary influence behind the series’ rising popularity. Nevertheless, devoted fans took to social media to express their disagreement.

Fandom’s Reaction

Many fans found it insulting that a leaker was credited with contributing to the legacy of the late Akira Toriyama and the marketing of Dragon Ball Daima. One fan pointed out that there has been no promotional activity from the production team, even in Japan, the series’ home country.

Another fan highlighted an interesting comparison with the previous Dragon Ball movie, which had minimal promotional support yet managed to rank among Japan’s top 30 highest-grossing anime films, demonstrating that Dragon Ball Daima needs no help from leakers for its success.

“Saying this about Dragon Ball is straight up disrespectful,”a fan stated.

“It has had literally zero marketing. One official trailer and two teasers. Meanwhile, grocery stores are selling Reese’s Puffs with DBZ characters on them. Haven’t seen a single ad for Daima anywhere. Friends in Japan haven’t either,”another fan remarked.

“DBS: Super Hero had absolutely zero marketing as well and guess what? It even made more money than DBS: Broly because it’s Dragon Ball. The community’s own enthusiasm does all the marketing itself,”another responded.

“Dragon Ball is the Nintendo of Anime. Everyone knows about it,”another fan added.

Concluding Thoughts

Putting aside the debates about popularity, many Dragon Ball fans do not consider Geekdom101 a credible source for various reasons. The YouTuber claims to be the authority on the series, and despite the criticism from the fandom regarding his leak-based content, he continues to share such information.
