Fans Find Hidden Cheese in House of the Dragon Episode 1

Blood and Cheese were first introduced in the first episode of House of the Dragon Season 2, and viewers have since noticed Cheese secretly moving around the castle prior to their debut.

The Blood and Cheese storyline has been the topic of much discussion throughout Season 2 of House of the Dragon. This is to be expected when two assassins are responsible for the murder of an infant child, especially considering the strong opinions of book fans on how the brutal scene should be portrayed.

Ever since their first appearance in House of the Dragon Season 1, the murderous duo has been highly anticipated by fans. However, their climactic moment was so engrossing that many viewers failed to notice Cheese wandering around the Red Keep beforehand.

Ever since the first episode aired, Cheese has been noticed by numerous viewers multiple times, strolling around the castle with his dog who is soon to be kicked out. One of the most memorable sightings was during the court scene with King Aegon II, where the murderer can be seen walking in the background. (The clip below captures this moment.)

However, this is not the only time he makes a sneaky appearance. Just moments after Helaena expresses her fear of “rats,”there is a shot of him picking up a string of rodents. He even casually strolls past the Small Council as they make their way to their meeting.

His elusive presence within the castle is unsettling. Despite Cheese being unaware of his ruthless actions, his admirers are devastated to witness him in this state of concealment.

One X user admitted that while Cheese was shown in the back for most of the episode to emphasize how effortlessly he could enter and exit, they did not see him in this particular scene.

Many individuals may believe that the ending was foolish, but the truth is, there are numerous details like this scattered throughout, as another pointed out.

“At the moment Alicent and others entered the Small Council hall, another person mentioned that Cheese was successfully catching rats.”

Despite his intimidating appearance, the man takes his job very seriously,”joked one user. “He spent the entire episode catching rats in the castle.”

Another fan proposed an even more heart-wrenching explanation. They suggested: “Perhaps [Aegon] immediately ordered for ratcatchers when Helaena voiced her fear of ‘rats’. And when he saw Cheese pass by twice, he may have congratulated himself for fulfilling his duty as a devoted husband, trying to ease his Queen’s fears. It’s heartbreaking.”
