Throughout Season 9, Gottmik has donned multiple ensembles, but there is one particular look that fans strongly believe deserved more recognition.
Despite sparking an entire fan debate, Season 9 of All Stars is solely focused on showcasing the skills of the eight contestants in each challenge, as there is no risk of any of them being eliminated this season.
Despite any changes, one aspect that has remained consistent this season is the presence of runways. From the very first episode, each queen has graced the stage with their own unique fashion show, showcasing the outfits they either crafted themselves or had specially designed for them.
In the third episode, a runway challenge was held in which every contestant participated, including Gottmik, who may be familiar to you as a finalist in Season 13.
During her appearance on the show, she wore an outfit with fake hands covering her body, representing the faux stitches on her upper chest. This was a powerful symbol of her journey through mastectomy surgery and her transformation, making her the first trans man to ever compete on the show.
Reddit users expressed their admiration for Gottmik’s “exceptional”runway look on May 25, also voicing their opinion that it was not given enough attention during the episode on the All Stars subreddit.
One viewer expressed their anger, “I was absolutely infuriated that the judges overlooked this, aside from Carson.”
Additionally, a different fan added their thoughts, stating, “This was undoubtedly one of the most iconic looks to grace the stage, but for some reason, Ru overlooked it… it was quite strange.”
It is a widely known fact that TV shows often have moments edited out in order to save time. Therefore, it is possible that there was commentary from Rupaul or Michelle that was omitted in post-production. However, Gottmik has not publicly addressed whether this was the case in this particular situation.
Despite this, the queen ultimately emerged victorious in the episode, defeating Nina West in a lip-sync battle.
