Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves Introduces Ken and Chun-Li Crossover Event

The Tokyo Game Show 2024 is kicking off with exciting announcements, particularly for fans of fighting games. A new trailer has finally addressed fans’ speculation about potential appearances from the Street Fighter franchise in the upcoming game, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. While iconic characters like Ryu and Luke won’t be making their way to Southtown just yet—presumably because Luke is occupied planning a trip to Memphis—Ken, who boasts unique interactions with Terry from SNK vs. Capcom, will join Chun-Li in the new Fatal Fury installment.

Much like the recent Cristiano Ronaldo trailer, this new City of the Wolves trailer doesn’t divulge extensive details about Ken and Chun-Li’s roles in the game. Their character models are taken from Street Fighter 6, meaning we haven’t glimpsed their appearances in the distinct art style of City of the Wolves yet. However, the video description confirms that Ken and Chun-Li will be included in the Season Pass 1 DLC character lineup, providing clarity on two of the five characters slated for the initial wave of downloadable content.

According to the video description, Ken is expected to join the game in Summer 2025, with Chun-Li’s arrival scheduled for Winter 2025. Given that Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is set to launch on April 24, Ken might be the first DLC character introduced, assuming no additional characters are available immediately following the game’s release. Notably, the recent Ronaldo trailer has also made its way to the SNK Official YouTube channel, but it has not clarified whether he will be playable or included in the game at launch or as part of Season Pass 1.

Although many fans may not have anticipated Ken’s involvement in this crossover, it’s a clever choice that deviates from the usual Ryu speculation. Moreover, there are no indications that further crossover characters won’t appear in Fatal Fury’s future!

The inclusion of guest characters from Street Fighter has been a hot topic since Terry and Mai were confirmed for Street Fighter 6. Now, the confirmation that Fatal Fury will also feature crossovers only heightens anticipation for both the game and the potential for a new SNK vs. Capcom 3 installment. Along with the revival of the franchise in the upcoming Capcom Fighting Collection 2, fans’ predictions could very well align, as they previously anticipated the inclusion of Street Fighter characters in Fatal Fury.
