Father-in-law’s Stock Manipulation Acquittal Overturned and Remanded, Agency Asks to Leave Family Out of This

On June 16th, Big Planet Made issued a statement regarding the case of Lee Seung-gi’s father-in-law A, who was accused of stock manipulation in 2016. The company earnestly requested that, in light of Lee Seung-gi’s 20th debut anniversary as an artist and his desire to connect with his fans, his family be excluded from this matter.

The statement further added that Lee Seung-gi has taken on the roles of a responsible household leader, husband, father, and son-in-law. With the recent addition of a new member to their family, his father-in-law and mother-in-law have also become proud grandparents. While this matter relates to events before Lee Seung-gi’s marriage, it will be addressed and resolved by the family. As Lee Seung-gi embarks on a new journey with Big Planet Made Entertainment, he is filled with even more determination and motivation.

Big Planet Made emphasized, “We will continue to pursue stronger legal measures against false information and harmful defamatory statements regarding Lee Seung-gi and his family.”

According to legal experts, the lower court’s decision to acquit A and co-operator B, along with two others, of violating the Capital Market Act has been overturned by the third division of the Supreme Court. The case has now been remanded to the Seoul High Court. A and the other defendants were charged with artificially inflating the stock prices of a KOSDAQ-listed company from November 2014 to February 2016, and then selling the obtained shares after a recapitalization, resulting in a profit of approximately 2.37 billion won.
