Tommy ‘Temperrr’ Oliveira, co-owner of FaZe Clan, has clarified the unexpected departure of CS2 player Robin ‘Ropz’ Kool from the team’s roster. This move has raised eyebrows in the esports community.
Following the conclusion of the Perfect World CS2 Shanghai Major, where Team Spirit emerged as champions, many Counter-Strike enthusiasts anticipated a roster shuffle. However, few could have predicted the magnitude of some recent player movements.
The announcement that Ropz, a prominent Estonian rifler, would be leaving FaZe Clan after over two years was particularly shocking. This report, cited by HLTV’s Luis Mira and Guillaume ‘neL’ Rathier, revealed that Ropz would be making a free transfer to Team Vitality. This transition allows him to join forces with fellow Counter-Strike star Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut.
Insights from Temperrr Regarding Ropz’s Departure
Given Ropz’s critical role in FaZe’s successes, his exit has left fans questioning the reasons behind this shift. Why did Ropz choose to leave, and how did this opportunity for a free transfer arise?
In response, Temperrr provided some context during a recent Twitch stream, indicating that Ropz was seeking a team with enhanced firepower and capabilities. “The only way he would have really wanted to stay with FaZe is if we could have brought on a high firepower player, and that just wasn’t feasible at the time,”he stated.
He further elaborated on the complexities of roster changes amid the current “rostermania,” expressing that ongoing contract negotiations were complicating matters significantly. “With all the rostermania going on right now and contracts not being terminated, it’s making everything pretty challenging,”he added.
As of now, there have been no solid rumors regarding Ropz’s replacement within the FaZe lineup. Fans speculate potential targets among the Mouz roster, given their expiring contracts, along with Jonathan ‘EliGE’ Jablonowski’s interest in competing in Europe. However, further developments are anticipated before any new additions are confirmed.
