FC Houses in FFXIV Snatched Up by a Handful of Players as Community Left Reeling

A few wealthy players in Dawntrail are quickly claiming all of the available free company houses in Final Fantasy XIV, leaving the rest of the community without a place to live and causing chaos.

With the upcoming release of Final Fantasy XIV’s expansion, Dawntrail, players are getting ready for its launch. They are making sure to clear out their inventories, getting Wondrous Tales ready, and even farming Gil to ensure they have enough for the journey ahead.

One method of acquiring Gil is by utilizing Free Company submarines, which have the potential to yield players a significant amount of Gil if they effectively utilize and manipulate the system. As a result, numerous players create additional accounts solely for the purpose of having FCs dedicated to earning Gil, allowing them to amass large amounts of profits.

The practice of farming Gil for Dawntrail’s launch has caused some servers to be filled with alternate accounts in their entire Wards. This has caused discontent among many members of the community who have been expressing their frustration with the situation.

Despite the fact that making alternate characters on paper may not seem like an issue, numerous players are expressing discontent as it deprives other players the opportunity to secure a house for their primary character. This is especially problematic on highly populated Data Centers in America and Europe where housing options are limited.

Certain players are urging for the prohibition or condemnation of this practice, in hopes that it will deter others from engaging in it, as stated in the Terms of Service.

“Spofie, a content creator for FFXIV, expressed frustration and confusion over the fact that this is not considered a violation of the ToS or punished by SE.”

Some proposed that housing should be restricted by IP addresses or be instanced, as this would prevent situations like this from occurring.

As Dawntrail is just a week away, it is doubtful that the developers have any major plans in store. However, given how closely Creative Business Unit III works with their community, there is a possibility of significant updates in the future.
