Despite being a highly successful K-pop group that topped various music charts and gained global recognition, T-ara has faced challenges in reclaiming their former success following a significant setback. As the members persevere in their pursuit of their individual careers, Hyomin even had to reach out and request the support of junior idol groups in order to promote her solo track and achieve chart success.
In February 2019, Hyomin unveiled her solo music project called “Allure.”In an effort to boost the song’s popularity, the singer personally mentioned the Twitter handles of junior idol groups, hoping that their fans would support her track and help it rise on the charts.
At first, it was believed that the Twitter account of Hyomin had congratulated LOONA’s song “Butterfly”and also asked for support for her own track. Other groups such as DREAMCATCHER, MONSTA X, and ITZY were also requested to support her song. Despite the outcome of this approach, Hyomin’s song “Allure”debuted on the Bugs chart at #46 in its first week.
The account believed to be Hyomin’s sparked a great deal of controversy with this action. Numerous individuals expressed their disappointment that the female idol had to depend on junior groups and their fans to promote her song and boost its performance on the charts.
Despite the “Hyomin” account being created in 2010 and gaining over 293,000 followers, there were numerous doubts regarding its authenticity as a T-ara member. Moreover, the account ceased to post any updates in May 2022.
Despite having a large number of comments, the account does not have a verified blue check mark and has low engagement with less than 50 likes. Several comments on the posts have raised suspicions about the authenticity of the account, questioning if it truly belongs to the idol or is being run by a fan.
During the early 2010s, Hyomin was considered one of the top idols as T-ARA dominated the charts with popular songs such as “Roly Poly,””Bo Peep Bo Peep,”and “Lovey-Dovey.””Roly Poly”gained significant attention in 2011. At the height of their success, T-ARA was viewed as a strong competitor to groups like Girls’ Generation, 2NE1, and KARA.
Despite being cleared of the allegations after 6 years, T-ARA’s reputation was severely tarnished due to a bullying scandal involving one of their members. As they struggled to regain their former glory, all six members performed together on May 13, 2017. However, just two days later, Soyeon and Boram left MBK Entertainment.
After releasing their final album, titled “What’s My Name?”on June 14, 2017, T-ARA achieved their first music show victory in 5 years. Although Hyomin, Jiyeon, Eunjung, and Qri departed from MBK in early 2018, they assured fans that the group would not be disbanding.
