The upcoming Dawntrail expansion for Final Fantasy XIV will include a feature that will prevent players from exploiting the Alliance Raid roulette by manipulating their item levels.
The approaching release of Dawntrail in Final Fantasy XIV is highly anticipated. This expansion will introduce a plethora of new content to the MMO, such as a fresh main scenario questline, two additional jobs, numerous dungeons and trials, and many other exciting features.
The comprehensive preliminary patch notes have provided a thorough overview of all the changes that will be included in the upcoming update, giving players a glimpse of what they can expect. These changes encompass enhancements to the UI and other quality-of-life features, as the developers strive to enhance the decade-long experience of the game.
Despite the numerous features that had the player base excited, there was one in particular that stood out. The Alliance Raid roulette is undergoing a mini-overhaul to prevent players from exploiting it to quickly and easily complete shorter instances.

Before the adjustment, players would purposely lower their average item level to extremely low levels in order to disqualify themselves from participating in higher-level Alliance Raids. This tactic was often used to ensure their inclusion in the Crystal Tower raid series, which was considered the easiest and shortest of the available raids.
In Dawntrail, this will no longer be the case. Now, when registering, players must meet the highest item level requirements for the alliance raids that they are able to enter on their class at that time.
This change will prevent you from artificially dropping your item level by unequipping gear, as it will now prevent you from queuing into the Alliance Raid roulette entirely.
This is great news for players who enjoy the other Alliance Raid series, as it is rarely chosen at random due to players manipulating their gear. So, get ready to brush up on your basic arithmetic in The Ridorana Lighthouse, or be prepared to face unexpected challenges in Dun Scaith.
