Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: Are Vincent Valentine and Cid Highwind playable?

The release of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is imminent, and that’s why fans of the franchise are wondering if Vincent Valentine or Cid Highwind will be playable characters in this new remake. So here’s everything you need to know.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth continues the story of Project Remake, produced by Yoshinori Kitase and directed by Naoki Hamaguchi. Rebirth features an open world with plenty of activities to undertake and more characters to play as.

Red XIII can now be used after his appearance in FF7 Remake, but a recent trailer revealed that other fan-loved characters will also take the stage, including the mysterious Vincent Valentine and the pilot of the airship from VII, Cid Highwind.

Find out if Cid and Vincent will be playable in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

Cid Highwind will accompany Cloud and Avalanche in FF7 Rebirth, but will not be playable.

Can we play Vincent Valentine & Cid Highwind in FF7 Rebirth?

No, game director Naoki Hamaguchi has confirmed that neither Vincent nor Cid will be playable in FF7 Rebirth.

According to a recent interview with IGN, Hamaguchi said: “If we used all the playable characters in the second part, then we would lose quite a few new surprises and new experiences for the player in the third game.”

During the interview about Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Hamaguchi confirmed that “Cid and Vincent accompany the group on their journey and they help, but they do not appear in combat as guest characters. So they won’t really be involved in your fight.”

“They will appear in different parts of the story and scenarios where they play a role or they will help or assist you in some way, but they don’t actually fight as guest characters in that sense,” continued Hamaguchi.

So it looks like players won’t be able to use the spear-wielding Cid or the mysterious, vampire-like Vincent Valentine in combat during FF7 Rebirth.
