As a survivor exploring the world of Once Human, it’s important to note that there are numerous puzzles for you to solve. Every region has its own distinct puzzle, some requiring clever thinking while others may require extensive exploration.
Devious Paintings are challenges that can be discovered while playing the game. One of the seasonal objectives is to solve a Devious Painting. These paintings are puzzles located in various ruins throughout the map. While they are challenging to solve, the real difficulty lies in uncovering their whereabouts.
How to solve the Devious Painting puzzle in Once Human?
In order to solve the Devious Painting puzzles-
- In a ruin, search for an Artist’s Diary and a blank canvas.
- Activate the Spacetime effect by reading the diary.
- A painting will emerge on the canvas depicting the location of the puzzle.
- Locations of the three puzzle ruins-Iron River: (5876, -4256), Red Sands: (4749, -2137) and (5371, 162) and Chalk Peak: (651, -6186)
- Discover maps in the form of puzzles and paintings at these designated areas.
- The coordinates for the solutions to the puzzles are Iron River (5889, -4257), Red Sands (5381, 145), and Chalk Peak (668, -6165).
- Make your way to that location and search for a luminous, indistinct item.
- Engage with the enigmatic object and solve the puzzle to receive the reward.
The ruins in Once Human often hold the Artist’s Diary and a blank canvas. Both of these items are necessary to begin a puzzle-solving journey, in which you must closely examine your map and make comparisons.
Generally, the location of the puzzle’s reward is nearby. However, in order to receive the rewards, you must first locate the Artist’s Diary and obtain the map. Without these items, the reward will not be accessible.
Where to Find the Devious Painting Puzzles
The locations and coordinates where the Devious Painting Puzzles can be found are as follows-
- Iron River: 5876, -4256 (Level 21-30 recommended)
- Red Sands: There are two in Red Sands – (4749, -2137) and (5371, 162)
- Chalk Peak: (651, -6186)

Iron River Puzzle
Out of the numerous puzzles available, the Iron River puzzle is likely the first one you will come across. Not only is it easily identifiable and solvable, but it is also strategically wise to begin there and then progress to the others. (Refer to the map above for the location of the Painting)
“Make your way to the previously mentioned spot in Iron River. It’s important to be adequately prepared, as the creatures in the area can inflict significant harm. Once there, you’ll come across an ancient ruins with a towering tree at its center. Beneath the tree, you’ll discover a diary.”
Chalk Peak
To obtain the second Devious Painting, one must travel to the Chalk Peak region, which is a more advanced area. Once arrived, proceed to the southwest portion of the Tall Grass Inn settlement to locate the painting.
The Artist’s abandoned workshop can be located. Once inside, utilize your Spacetime ability by pressing the Q key to uncover and obtain the painting on the seemingly blank canvas. This painting will unveil a mysterious location on the map where the hidden reward will be found.
Use your abilities to retrieve the map and then head northeast of the Artist’s workshop to (668, -6165). The loot crate can be found in this location.
2.3 Red Sands Puzzle
The Artist’s workshop can be found in the Red Sands region, a high-level endgame area where strong enemies are to be expected. To reach it, simply head northeast from the Blackfell settlement.
By using your skills to retrieve the painting and navigate using the map, you will realize that the X is located slightly north of your current position. This will lead you to the final reward drop, completing the Devious Paintings Puzzles. So, make sure to perform the same tasks and utilize your skills in order to successfully complete the challenge.
