The Battle Hardened quest in Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn commences upon meeting a thankful carpenter at Mudfish Dock. He requests that you eliminate all bandit flags in the vicinity after successfully defeating the bandits in the village. Your objective is to locate and dismantle all of the bandits’ banners, beginning with the four that are marked around Mudfish.
After finishing this task, the carpenter will inform you that there are numerous other banners spread throughout the world, waiting to be taken down. Taking down each banner will result in a minor increase in your reputation, while clearing all the banners in a specific region will grant you a much larger bonus. Discovering and removing all of them will also earn you the Red Flag Achievement.
To complete the Battle Hardened quest, you can use this brief guide to find all 30 banners. 15 of them can be found in Three Peaks, while the other 15 are located in Wanderer’s Rest.
Locating 30 Banners for the Battle Hardened Quest
As you progress through the Battle Hardened quest, you will come across the bandit banners once you have liberated Mudfish Dock. Your initial objective will be to locate and destroy four banners that are marked with quest markers in the village.
The 30 banners are evenly distributed between two maps: 15 can be found in Three Peaks and 15 can be found in Wanderer’s Rest. These banners can be destroyed at any point, even after finishing the main story, as the game allows for free-roam exploration after completing the story to ensure that players don’t miss anything.
To fully maximize your adventure, it is advised to first finish the banner hunt in Three Peaks before proceeding to Wanderer’s Rest, in order to avoid backtracking in the future.
15 Banners in Three Peaks
Banners 1-4: Representing Mudfish Village
Starting from the Coffee Shop, turn right to find the initial four banners. Keep an eye out for a Skull near the edge of the cliff where you battled the bandit leader. This will trigger Rifts to appear throughout the lake.
By utilizing these Rifts, you can quickly reach the banners and eliminate them using either your pistol or Marksman’s Musket.
It is important to note that certain banners may only be visible from specific angles, so it is crucial to keep a vigilant lookout, especially when traversing through the Rifts.
The locations where the four banners can be found are as follows:
- Atop a tall watchtower
- Inside an open steeple above a storehouse
- On a floating dock in the lake’s centre
- Along the cliffs on the opposite side of the water, heading towards the Rosy Mile
Locating the banners will be effortless, as they are conveniently marked on both your in-game map and HUD, making them highly recognizable.
Banner 5: Rosy Mile
From the Lodestone located on the Rosy Mile, simply turn your gaze towards the west to locate the Banner. It can be found halfway between Rosy Mile and Mile End’s Barricade, positioned beside a hut on a significant rock structure near the river. Just make sure to avoid passing the Inaya Shrine, as that is an indication that you have overshot your destination.
Banner 6: The Barricade at Mile End
The upcoming banner can be found within the dilapidated fortress located in Mile End’s Barricade. It is situated on the side of a building within the barricade’s courtyard, where the horde battle takes place.
The seventh banner is known as Whitebridge.
Don’t forget to destroy the Banner on the watchtower near the gate leading to the Foglands after defeating the initial Revenant and freeing Whitebridge. The Banner can be found in the western area of the village, hanging near the top of the tower to the left of the exit points.
The eighth banner is called “Enlightened Peak”.
While completing the Delayed Reunion side quest and traveling to Enlightened Peak through the Rifts along the river, be sure to take a detour and destroy the Banner that can be found at the base camp across from the Lodestone. This is where villagers often gather, so don’t miss the chance to complete this task.
The Banner is situated on the right side of the village, attached to a building at the bottom of the hill leading to Obas. Make sure to also gather the Enki Feather at the top when you reach the summit.
Banner 9 is named “Foglands”.
Once the camp has been established in the Foglands, proceed north towards the ruined tower. Climb to the top to acquire the Enki Feather and then confront the Horde located to the west of the structure.
After successfully defeating the Horde, you can safely destroy the Banner that was being guarded on top of a rock formation in the pond located in the northern region of the Foglands.
Pitman’s Gate is referred to as Banner 10.
After emerging from the Flooded Pit, you will be on the other bank of the river, close to the water wheel. If you look towards the east, you will see a tall building with a dilapidated crane. At the base of the building, you will find a Banner.
11-12 Banner: Mines of Sulfur
In the Sulfur Mines, there are two Banners to be found. The first one can be seen from the ground floor, near the entrance where you have already defeated a large number of enemies during the axe thrower fight. Simply jump onto the scaffold and destroy this Banner.
Once you have acquired the Ricochet Cannon, move on to the next room which contains only one Rift. In this room, you will come across a Banner that is cleverly concealed on top of wooden scaffolding. Use the Rift to locate it and then jump onto the scaffold to destroy the Banner.
The name of the banner is Gavel Gate.
Upon reaching the Workyard, the banner at the top of the wooden watchtower near the campsite in upper Gavel Gate can be destroyed by jumping from the nearby ledge.
Alternatively, you have the option of going back to Gavel Gate and utilizing the Marksman’s Musket to bring down the Banner from the ground level.
Banner 14: Writ City
To get to the rift skull pedestal, bypass the market square in Writ and climb up the stairs. Once you reach the top, make your way over the broken cart on the left and follow the path. You will eventually come to the cages, guarded by two Heralds. At this point, you can choose to either engage in a fight or sneak past them. From there, head east towards the city wall and you will see a Banner on a house across from you.
Kneeling Keep: Banner 15
The final Banner in Three Peaks can be found on a support pillar at the peak of Kneeling Keep, right before encountering Rammuha. To reach it, teleport to the top of the cathedral and then descend towards the city using the Lodestone.
At the initial curved staircase, glance upwards to locate the last Banner. Remove it, and you will have collected all 15 Banners, resulting in additional Reputation points prior to the impending boss battle!
15 Banners in Wanderer’s Rest
First Anchor: Banner 1
Located in the center of First Anchor, the Banner can be taken down from the tallest tower in the Hamlet, offering the highest viewpoint in the area.
Advertisement 2-3: Cape Reunion
As the mysterious woman leads you to the summit of the cliff for the Side Quest Ascension, you will come across the first Banner perched on a vertical rock formation with deteriorating walls. It may be necessary to shoot it down from this spot.
On the cliff in the southeast corner of Cape Reunion, there is a dilapidated stone structure that can be seen from the Lodestone at the hamlet. The second Banner is located on top of this structure and can be taken down with a musket.
Fourth and fifth banner: Pilgrim’s Point of View
While completing the Main Quest, “The Enemy’s Grasp”, be on the lookout for the initial Banner located on a tower in the east as you make your way towards Pilgrim’s Overlook.
Further ahead, in the northwest area of Pilgrim’s Overlook, lies the second Banner on a pole at the central encampment. It is situated close to where you engage in combat with Feral Farragh, the leader of the settlement.
Banner 6: Backharvest
A Banner is placed above the entrance pathway to Exile’s Cradle, located next to a large ram skull, in the northern region of Backharvest.
Banner 7: Cradle of Exile
In the northern section of Exile’s Cradle, there is a Banner hanging from a flagpole at the back of the arena. It is situated high above the fighting area and can be seen during the completion of the “Prizefight” Side Quest.
Banner 8-9: Wisdom’s Edge remains unchanged.
In Wisdom’s Edge, a Banner is suspended on a ledge east of the bandit camp, located halfway between Grasslands and Wisdom’s Edge. It is attached to a flagpole.
The second Banner is located in the southern area of Wisdom’s Edge, perched atop the tallest tower in the northeast section of the Campsite. This tower is a large, round stone structure.
The 10th banner is named “Sybil’s Teeth”.
A Banner is situated on a cliff in the canyon area, south of the Backharvest entrance. It is located approximately halfway between the southern campsite and the Coffee Shop in Backharvest, nestled between Sybil’s Teeth and Backharvest.
Sign 11-12: Goatfoot Gorge
West of the Sunshelter and North Goatfoot Gorge, a Banner is suspended on a high rocky ledge, requiring a skilled musket shot to obtain it.
The musket shot must be fired to bring down the second banner, which is hanging high above the caves and canyon in northeast Goatfoot Gorge.
Banner 13: Cliffs of Breakwater
The banner is located at the top of a tower marking the entrance to the Breakwater Cliffs territory.
14th Banner: Sibyl City

Banner 15: Illuminated Hallways
A Banner hangs from a flagpole southwest of the Lodestone at Enlightened Halls, requiring a musket shot to be brought down from across the water.
