Fixing NBA 2K25 Controller Issues on PC

Despite having feature parity with current-generation consoles, NBA 2K25 still suffers from the usual problems that have become expected from the franchise and other 2K Sports titles. These issues range from stability problems to network errors, making for a less than ideal experience on PC. If you encounter any problems with your controller while playing NBA 2K25, here are some steps you can take to resolve them.

Troubleshooting Controller Issues in NBA 2K25

According to reports from users, PlayStation controllers have been causing issues with button prompts not appearing correctly. In addition, several users have also reported being unable to use the controller outside of menus.

These recommendations will address both problems.

Plug In/Connect One Controller at a Time

In order to prevent any conflicts with other input devices, it is important to only have your controller connected or plugged in. This includes disconnecting any steering wheels or flight sticks while playing NBA 2K25. This will ensure smooth gameplay without any interference from other peripherals.

Disable Steam Input

If the correct button prompts are not appearing, particularly when using a PlayStation controller, disabling Steam Input and allowing the game to load its native controller profiles is necessary.

  • Make sure NBA 2K25 isn’t running
  • Open Steam, and navigate to your library
  • Here, right-click on NBA 2K25 and select Properties
  • In the Controller tab, select the Enable Steam Input option under Override for NBA 2K25

Following that, if you switch to a DualShock 4 or a DualSense, you should be able to see PlayStation button prompts.

Check detected controllers

If you are still unable to get your controllers to function properly, ensure that Steam is recognizing the ones that are connected. To confirm this in the Steam client, go to Steam > Settings > Controller.

If you are unable to see your controller appear, it is likely due to a faulty wire or Bluetooth dongle.

Despite having similar graphics to consoles, NBA 2K25 on PC is still plagued with numerous technical problems that prevent it from being the optimal way to experience the game.
