The official release date was recently unveiled in a trailer that premiered at the Xbox Games Showcase. You can watch the trailer below to get a glimpse of what the game will look like.

Platforms & price

Players will have access to Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

The game is currently available for preorders and will be accessible on both Steam and the Epic Game Store for PC gamers. Additionally, it will also be included in the Xbox Game Pass on the day of its release.

Gameplay & story

Combining elements of Soulslikes and spectacle fighters, A44 has dubbed Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn a Soulslite Action RPG in its recent trailers.

The narrative centers on Nor Vanek, a soldier who has joined forces with Enki, a Fox creature, in their mission to eliminate all the gods following the opening of the door to the afterlife.

Nor, a member of the human coalition, has taken an oath to defeat the divine beings. Enki, a deity in his own right, has joined Nor in his fight against the gods who have unleashed an army of undead creatures. However, it is revealed that Enki is the one responsible for unleashing the gods and is now aiding Nor as a form of repentance.

The trailers for this game have showcased players utilizing swords, magic, and guns as part of their gameplay. This departure from the typical Soulslike style is particularly notable for its flashy and dynamic nature.

The gameplay trailers have also shown that the player characters will possess a high level of agility, allowing them to jump and evade enemy attacks.

Reputation is the key factor in the leveling process, as it is obtained upon completion of encounters. It serves as currency to enhance armor and weapons, as well as to unlock new abilities within the Powder, Magic, and Steel paths.

Through enhancing these skills and harnessing Enki’s capabilities, players can effectively activate enemies’ vulnerabilities, leading to critical damage similar to Sekiro’s poise mechanic.

Overall, it appears that A44 is drawing influence from various genres in order to create a challenging game, similar to a Soulslike, but with its own unique twist. By aiming to expand the definition of a Soulslike, these elements are coming together to form what they refer to as a ‘Soulslite.’

Will it be open world?

Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn will indeed feature an open world.

The gameplay trailers have unveiled various forms of adversaries, a vast world available for exploration, and novel characters to encounter on your journey.
