Football Manager 25 has officially announced its release date, and pre-orders have been opened. However, many fans are reluctant to commit, as there has been minimal information about new features and enhancements in this year’s installment.
Every year, Sports Interactive’s renowned football simulation game releases on schedule, but the 2025 version has left some fans feeling anxious. The release date has been postponed to November 26, and there has been a significant shortage of announcements regarding new gameplay elements.
The developers indicated in recent interviews that they will be removing some of the most-utilized systems and implementing a new game engine. However, updates regarding a tactical overhaul and a revamped user interface are still pending discussions, particularly concerning the inclusion of women’s football, which is expected to be revealed after October 7.
Despite the release date trailer that merely hinted at future reveals without displaying any gameplay footage of FM25, players expressed their outrage over the pre-order availability.
“Asking for pre-orders when all the features are ‘to be announced’ is crazy,” commented Eugene3005 on Reddit. “The game is less than 2 months away!!”

Eugene3005’s sentiment resonated with many other Football Manager enthusiasts, who took to social media to voice their frustrations over the marketing strategies employed thus far. In fact, some community members even called for a boycott of pre-orders, citing the lack of substantive information about the game.
One prominent figure in the community, content creator TomFM, shared his perspective on the issue in a video on his YouTube channel.
“At the moment, I don’t think they’ve showcased enough to make us eager for the game,” he explained. “If I wasn’t producing content, I wouldn’t be pre-ordering it at this stage.”
The absence of any in-game footage so close to the scheduled launch has raised concerns regarding the readiness of FM25 at launch.
“The game should be pretty much completed by now and we don’t have a single screenshot of the match engine — this is alarming,” remarked another Reddit user.
Fortunately, Football Manager 25 will start revealing its new features on October 7, so fans won’t have to wait much longer to get a detailed preview of what the upcoming season has to offer.
