FOB Sushi Bar Closes Temporarily Amid Food Safety Concerns
FOB Sushi Bar, a popular dining establishment in Seattle, Washington, has announced that it will be closing its doors “until further notice.” This decision comes in the wake of controversy surrounding a viral TikTok review by social media influencer Keith Lee, where concerns were raised about the safety of their food.
Incident Sparks Outrage
On November 10, Keith Lee shared a video on TikTok showcasing his experience at FOB Sushi Bar. During his review, viewers noticed that a piece of salmon he was holding appeared to exhibit unusual movement, leading to concerns that he may have consumed a worm. This unsettling observation led to a flurry of reactions from his followers.
Restaurant’s Response
In response to the viral video, FOB Sushi Bar issued a statement suggesting that the movement in the fish could have resulted from the pressure applied by Lee’s chopsticks. They emphasized their commitment to health and safety, stating:
“At FOB Sushi, we are committed to upholding the highest health and safety standards to provide clean, fresh, and safe food for every customer.”
They further explained that the observed movement might be attributed to the fish’s natural elasticity or the pressure of the chopsticks.
Keith Lee’s Reactions and Concerns
As discussions around the incident intensified on social media platforms, Keith Lee posted another video where he voiced serious concerns regarding the restaurant’s food safety practices. He shared that a customer, who visited the sushi bar the day after his review, had been hospitalized after dining there.
“The only reason I’m making this video is because I just saw a video of somebody who went the day after us, and now they’re hospitalized,” Lee stated. He emphasized that the restaurant must take accountability for the situation.
Call for Accountability
Expressing his frustration, Keith criticized FOB Sushi Bar’s initial response, suggesting it lacked accountability. He asserted:
“For the restaurant to post a statement indicating that me holding the chopsticks a certain way is why the sushi moved, I personally don’t agree with it.”
He further elaborated on his extensive experience with sushi, asserting that he has never encountered such behavior in food.
Health and Safety Protocols Under Review
In light of the growing concerns, FOB Sushi Bar made a significant decision to temporarily close two of their locations in Seattle and Bellevue. They announced:
“In response to recent food safety concerns, we have decided to close our FOB Sushi locations in Seattle and Bellevue until further notice. Your health and safety are our highest priorities. We are conducting a thorough investigation to address the situation and will take all necessary measures to prevent it from happening again.”
As of now, Keith Lee has not publicly commented on the restaurant’s decision to cease operations. This incident isn’t the first time his reviews have prompted significant reactions from restaurant owners, as he previously addressed issues of poor service at a Louisiana establishment.
As the restaurant works to resolve these food safety concerns, patrons and fans eagerly await further updates.
