Foldable iPhone leak reveals Apple’s fast-track for 2026 launch

“Apple is behind the curve in the foldable phone market. Customers are eagerly anticipating the release of a foldable iPhone, especially since their competitors have already reached their sixth generation of foldable devices.”

According to sources cited by The Information, Apple’s Flip-styled iPhone, known internally as V68, has progressed beyond the ideation stage.

If proven to be true, Apple’s first foldable phone could compete with Samsung’s successful line of Galaxy Flip devices. Coincidentally, Samsung’s Flip holds the title of being the most successful foldable phone, according to a report by Display Supply Chain Consultants.

The report also mentions that Apple has already initiated communication with its Asian suppliers to commence production of components for this upcoming device.

According to the Information, Apple is reportedly planning to enhance the camera of at least one iPhone model. The upcoming model may include a mechanical aperture control system, which could provide users with improved control over their phone’s camera. This feature is expected to produce a more natural depth-of-field effect when taking photos and videos.

Surprisingly, Huawei and Samsung pose strong competition for Apple in both China and the global market. These brands have been producing foldable phones for quite some time.

Even so, The Information also reports that Apple is encountering problems with the screen crease. Although they have begun discussions with their supply chain, Cupertino has yet to find a solution for the display crease.

We have previously heard about Apple’s intentions to release a foldable iPhone. Rumors have also circulated about the company developing a hybrid, table-shaped device with a foldable large screen.

During our research, we stumbled upon a report indicating that Apple is developing a sizable foldable iPhone featuring a wrap-around display measuring 7.9 inches.

Even the Information warns that the iPhone Flip may never be released.

Despite this, considering Apple’s recent focus on high-end lifestyle products such as the sleek OLED iPad Pro and the rumored slim iPhone 17, it is highly probable that the iPhone Flip will be released in the near future.

At its fall event this year, Apple will unveil its latest lineup of 16 iPhone models.
