As the seventh season arrives, theories are circulating: according to fans of the series, Sheldon must clearly have cancer by now.
Young Sheldon is on everyone’s lips: the seventh season is arriving for the spin-off of The Big Bang Theory, and the wait is starting to be difficult for some. To the point of launching absurd theories about the future of its characters? Maybe not that absurd.
The new part of the adventures of this young Sheldon arrives in February 2024. But while waiting for it, many spectators are far from twiddling their thumbs: busy scrutinizing the different scenes of the series, they have raised a very particular problem.
Namely, the many risks taken for the hero’s health, for all his scientific experiments, and one more specific than the others. According to them, Sheldon should already be suffering from cancer.
Young Sheldon Fans Convinced Sheldon Should Have Cancer
Avid viewers of Young Sheldon created a thread dedicated to the subject on Reddit, and the verdict is clear: the hero “should have cancer” at this point, especially after his dangerous scientific experiments.

“Why doesn’t Sheldon have cancer?” posted a user alongside an image of the entire Cooper family – and experts in protective suits – entering the garage to save him. “As I imagined, this exposure should be enough to cause permanent damage, right?”
But faced with the concern, some tried to temper: “I thought it would be much worse based on the title,” someone replied, while a third participant in the debate added: “Even if it is not It’s not great for him, the exposure wasn’t that prolonged. People involved in clean-up are probably exposed much more often.”
Although Sheldon has already been involved in many dangerous experiments, this example in particular concerns his alleged use of uranium in Season 2 Episode 13. Titled “The Nuclear Reactor,”it shows Sheldon while he has trouble with the FBI both for trying to buy the offending substance and for building his own reactor.
Sheldon is not sick in The Big Bang Theory
Indeed, Sheldon looks healthy in the main series, The Big Bang Theory, as he has reached adulthood. But here too our Internet detectives have the answer: even as an adult, the protagonist is not yet that old in the original story.
“He is still quite young (even at the end of TBBT). Low-level exposure to radiation tends to cause cancer in the long term. High-level exposure prevents cancer altogether, because it immediately makes you sick and kills you from radiation,” another Reddit user reasoned. So Sheldon would have escaped a quick and painful death, but could he have created a breeding ground for cancer?
“I’ve been wondering this since the pilot,” added another fan, while a third summed up, “Those Geiger counters were beeping a lot! Sheldon seemed unaware that boasting about having ‘a lot’ of radioactive material would bring the feds to his door. Shouldn’t he know that?”
Season 7 of Young Sheldon will soon add new opportunities to ruin your health for the young hero: it is expected on February 15, 2024.
