“Pokemon Go Party Play has recently received a significant upgrade, making it much more convenient to play with friends. This feature was first introduced to Pokemon Go in 2023, enabling players to form parties and work together to complete challenges and earn special rewards.”
After being introduced several months ago, players have discovered evidence indicating a significant revamp. Trainers are now able to share items among their entire party, including valuable items such as Star Pieces and Lucky Eggs that enhance in-game rewards. This means that these items are now accessible to all members of the party.
At the time of writing, Niantic has not directly acknowledged the change, but players have been bringing it to light, such as in this Reddit post, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive.

Enthusiastic fans flooded the comments section, with one exclaiming, “Wuuuuuuuuuuuuuut that would be a game-changer for my children lol”while others praised it as “practical.”
Despite the feature not being officially unveiled yet, there are many questions surrounding it. The lack of an official announcement has created a lot of ambiguity. One example of this is the duration of items like the Lucky Egg when used in Party Play. While they typically last for 30 minutes, it appears that they only remain active for 15 minutes when shared.
A question was raised about the duration of a 30-minute star piece when multiple people are in a party. It was asked if the duration would be divided to 15 minutes with two people or 7.5 minutes with four people.
Afterwards, a user who had experience with the feature clarified that in Party Play, each item used gives “half of the duration to every member of the Party, regardless of the Party’s size.”
If Party Play is activated in a party of two, three, or four, a Lucky Egg or Star Piece will only work for 15 minutes instead of the standard 30. However, the duration can be prolonged by using additional items.
Nonetheless, as mentioned by other comments, this implies that with only two people using a Lucky Egg, four individuals can benefit from the 30-minute boost. In essence, this reduces the cost of items by half if a full party is present.
Many comments responded positively to this, including one that stated, “That’s genuinely impressive as it effectively doubles the usage duration of those items if all four people in a party take turns sharing them.”
The alteration is evidently effective in encouraging others to return to Party Play, as a separate comment states “It’s a reasonable motivation to form a party. Additionally, it may be simpler for them to implement compared to dividing the item buff based on the current party’s size.”
If Niantic provides more information about the alteration to the feature, we will update our report with the specific details as soon as they are made known.
