Upon departing from BBGIRLS, Youjoung took to Instagram to share a heartfelt post addressing her departure from the group.
Youjoung Announces Departure From BBGIRLS In Heartfelt Instagram Post
Warner Music Korea revealed on April 22 that BBGIRLS would be departing from the agency upon the expiration of their contract. The group first signed with the agency on April 27, 2023, and despite facing disbandment, the members successfully redebuted as BBGIRLS after originally debuting as Brave Girls.
The agency expressed their gratitude to Minyoung, Youjoung, Eunji, and Yuna, members of BBGIRLS and artists under Warner Music. They also stated that Warner Music Korea will continue to provide support and best wishes for their future endeavors.
Fans were eagerly anticipating the girl group’s new beginnings under their new agency, BBGIRLS Company, which will be overseen by GLG, the same agency as H1-KEY. However, their hopes were shattered on April 22 when BBGIRLS announced the unfortunate news of Youjoung’s departure from the group.
“After multiple thorough discussions, the decision was made for member Youjoung to end her activities with BBGIRLS,”the statement read. “The members have chosen to honor Youjoung’s wishes and express gratitude for her dedication. We will continue to offer our support to her in the future.”
Following her departure from BBGRLS, Youjoung took to her personal social media account to share her thoughts. Below is the full letter she posted:
“Hello. This is Youjoung.
After much thought, I’ve decided to post this! As of April, my contract with Warner Music Korea ended, and instead of being a member of BBGIRLS, I’ve decided to become active as Nam Youjoung.
You guys have always believed in me and worried about me. I am so grateful to all of you. I also want to say sorry because we made a lot of promises together. I can’t tell you the whole story though, as it was so sudden in itself.
At the same time, hundreds and tens of thousands of times, I have put an end to something I’ve been worrying about.
From the beginning, I was small and had a lot of fears. I have a lot of thoughts and worries, and I’m scared of causing harm and hesitant to be independent at the same time. I think I was scared to death.
But after this day, I chose to love, cherish, and leave my past behind. I will love and cherish the future and think about chasing the next step. Even as you scold me for being wrong, this is the part that deserves praise is a pat on the shoulder.
I will humbly accept it all, and I will continue to develop myself well.
The world doesn’t recognize me. Even the moments when I complained, moments filled with support and encouragement from many people, it all remained a chapter in my life. Right now, I must write another story of mine in the future.
Honestly, I’m feeling fear more than excitement, but as I make mistakes and love myself again, as I’ve always done, I will also be there to console myself. I will continue to work hard in the future.
Warner Music, who has been with us all this time, and the members, thank you. In the future where Minyoung, Eunji, and Yuna will create, please support BBGIRLS in their path.
