Former Fifty Fifty Members Demand $300 Million in New Civil Lawsuit

Three ex-members of the girl group Fifty Fifty, whose contracts with Attrakt were terminated last year, have sued former CEO Jeon Hong-jun for 300 million won in compensation.

On the 23rd, Saena, Sio, and Aran, three former members, filed a complaint with the Seoul Central District Court, seeking a total of 300 million won. This legal action is a response to Attrakt’s lawsuit in December of the previous year, in which they sought 13 billion won in damages from the three former members, their parents, and The Givers’ CEO Ahn Seong-il, among others.

Both cases have been consolidated and are being handled by the 31st Civil Division. The law firm Dongin is representing the former members in both the damages and settlement lawsuits.

The previous members of Fifty Fifty are currently engaging in different activities in preparation for the group’s expected return. On the 12th, they officially signed with MASSIVE E&C, a label under IOK Company, expressing their desire to achieve further success with the creators of the popular song “Cupid.”As the first hearing for their 13 billion won lawsuit approaches on the 29th, the submission of a settlement claim has exacerbated tensions, leading to speculation that this may be a strategic response to Fifty Fifty’s upcoming endeavors.

The ex-members had previously brought up concerns about settlement matters in June of the previous year, claiming a loss of trust in Attrakt and requesting a halt to the exclusive contract. They stated that there were breaches in regards to the sharing of settlement information. However, the court had dismissed their claim, stating that the evidence provided did not prove if Fifty Fifty’s earnings from albums, music, or entertainment activities exceeded the expenses incurred, making it challenging to prove a violation of settlement responsibilities.

It is expected that the former members will use the case of Keena, who was granted the initial settlement in November of last year, as evidence to strengthen their own claims. As their exclusive contracts with Attrakt remained valid until October, it is probable that they will seek compensation for that time period. However, as the damages of 13 billion won and settlement claims of 300 million won are being pursued simultaneously, it is anticipated that the court will make a decision to adjust the requested amounts for both parties.
