Former Nijisanji Member Shares Reason for Quitting

Mika Melatika, a former member of Nijisanji, has disclosed the reasons for her departure from the VTuber agency. She cited two main factors for her graduation.

As Michi Mochievee, a VShojo star currently streaming on Twitch, shared a story about her time at Nijisanji. The VTuber recalled joking about taking her YouTube Play Button home during a tour of the agency’s office and receiving a warning as a result.

To protect her identity, Michi used the pseudonym ‘Bethany’ when she stated, “Bethany made a joke saying shhh, yoink and laughed about it,”while gesturing to grab the Play Button. She then added, “However, Bethany received a reprimand for making a tasteless joke.”

According to Michi’s recollection, the Nijisanji staff reportedly warned her that she could be expelled from the office for making the joke and emphasized, “You must realize that we cannot tolerate such incidents here,”despite her insistence that it was a harmless joke.

Perplexed by the response, she stated, “Since Bethany had experience in the entertainment industry, she assumed that people would have a lighthearted attitude towards jokes and not mistake her for a thief.”

These events caused her to experience a strong negative emotional reaction, feeling both “very bad”and “very weird.”She came to believe that the Nijisanji staff had a genuine belief that Michi was a criminal who had the intention of stealing from the company. In addition, she stated that they refused to allow her to take a picture of the Play Button due to privacy concerns, which only reinforced the sense of mistrust between them.

Michi cited her previous financial struggles with Nijisanji and her resulting obligation to repay two years of back taxes as the “final straw”and the main reason for her decision to graduate from the company in October 2023.

Despite being a former talent, she is not the only one who has claimed that Nijisanji caused her serious tax problems. K9Kuro, who used to stream as Mysta Rias, also disclosed that he accumulated a £350,000 debt while working with Nijisanji before eventually joining VShojo.

There has been a longstanding theory that Nijisanji prohibits its talents from owning their YouTube Play Buttons. Despite the lack of clarity on the reasons behind this rule, Claude Clawmark has previously refuted these rumors and stated that members can simply request one. However, this contradicts the statements made by former talents.
