Lee ‘Yaharong’ Chan-ju, a former professional League of Legends player, was apprehended in Hanoi, Vietnam on charges of murder. It is alleged that he strangled a woman to death and then escaped from the location.
According to a report by the Vietnamese news site iThethao, the woman named Yaharong refused the advances of the man she had rented a hotel room with, which then led him to become aggressive.
A heated argument between them resulted in him strangling her and smothering her with a pillow until she passed away. Following this, he allegedly entered an elevator heading towards the 65th floor of the hotel with the intention of ending his own life.
Despite his attempts to reach one of the hotel’s highest floors, he was stopped and recognized as Lee Chan-ju, otherwise known as Yaharong, a professional League of Legends player who had competed for many years.
iThethao reported that he is being sent back to his home country of South Korea for legal proceedings.
Yahargon officially began his professional career as ‘Grace’ for the 2018 LCK Season with Jin Air Green Wings.
The 2019 season was a historic disaster for this team, as they became the first ever team to finish with an 0-18 record in an LCK regular season during Summer 2019. Furthermore, their performance in Spring 2019 was equally dismal, as they only managed to secure one victory, resulting in a overall record of 1-35 for the year.
Despite the passing of time, the team still holds the reputation for having one of the largest losing streaks in the competitive history of LoL.
Following the dissolution of Jin Air in late 2020, Yaharong joined Fredit BRION as their starting mid-laner at the start of 2021. However, he was eventually removed from the starting roster and served as a substitute for the remainder of the year. In 2022, he made the move to DetonatioN FocusMe, a professional League of Legends team based in Japan.
Since leaving DFM at the end of 2022, he has not been active as a professional player.
