Former Prosecutor Now Represents BTS’s Suga

On August 23, Suga made an appearance at the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul after being accused of riding an electric scooter while under the influence. The incident occurred on August 6 at approximately 11:15 PM, near his residence in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. When the police located Suga, who had fallen off the scooter, his blood alcohol level was measured at 0.227%, confirming that he was intoxicated. Currently, Suga is fulfilling his duties as a social service worker and is expected to be discharged in June of next year.

On the 24th, Newsis confirmed that the lawyer who went with Suga to the Yongsan Police Station on the 23rd is a former prosecutor from a reputable law firm.

This attorney is renowned for his expertise in handling criminal cases for domestic entertainment companies. He has a track record of successfully defending well-known celebrities in drunk driving cases, such as Kangin who was accused of violating the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving) in 2016.

It was alleged that Kangin had collided with a street lamp outside a convenience store in Sin-sa-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, at approximately 2 AM on May 24, 2016. He immediately left the scene in his vehicle, but surrendered to authorities 11 hours later at 1 PM, sparking considerable controversy.

Despite initially being fined 7 million won and issued a summary indictment, Kangin ultimately faced a formal trial and was still ordered to pay the same amount after he chose not to appeal the ruling.

Since his departure from the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office in 2008, the lawyer currently representing Suga has been employed at a prominent law firm, where he has successfully dealt with a multitude of criminal cases.

On August 23, Suga from BTS was seen at the Seoul Yongsan Police Station facing charges of drunk driving.

On August 6, Suga was caught riding an electric scooter while under the influence and fell on a street in Hannam-dong, Yongsan, Seoul. The incident was reported to the police the following day, as his blood alcohol concentration of 0.227% was well above the legal limit for license suspension.

According to existing regulations, an individual with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.2% or above may face a prison sentence of 2 to 5 years or a fine ranging from 10 to 20 million won.

Suga has been working as a social service worker since September 2023 and is expected to finish his service in June 2025.
