Fortnite and NewJeans Collaboration Faces Possible Cancellation Amid Recent Controversies

The highly anticipated collaboration between Fortnite and the renowned K-pop group NewJeans is encountering significant challenges and may face cancellation. According to @Jorge_Most, a well-known social media influencer and Fortnite content creator, the partnership between these two iconic brands is in a delicate state.

Jorge shared, “The collaboration between Fortnite and NewJeans is facing problems and could be canceled.” He indicated that the primary issue may arise from internal conflicts within the NewJeans group. These challenges might hinder the group’s participation in Fortnite, despite the skins (character outfits) and concert (in-game performance) already being developed and in the works.

Fortnite, developed by Epic Games, is a hugely popular online video game that combines elements of battle royale, sandbox survival, and tower defense.

Although there has been no official announcement regarding cancellation, fans of both Fortnite and NewJeans are worried about the future of this partnership. Jorge mentioned that he will keep a close eye on the situation and provide updates as more information becomes available.

On the evening of September 11, NewJeans unexpectedly conducted a livestream titled “What NewJeans Wants to Say” on their new YouTube channel, nwjns, without the involvement of their management company, ADOR. All five members voiced their concerns regarding the surprising dismissal of former CEO Min Hee Jin by HYBE and their worries about the group’s future. They also expressed grievances about their working conditions, with Hanni disclosing her experiences of being intentionally ignored and isolated by a manager at HYBE.

NewJeans stressed their desire not to passively adhere to all of HYBE’s directives and expressed hope for Min Hee Jin’s return as CEO to guide the group’s development. The livestream surprised viewers, as such openness is rare in the industry.

This broadcast received immense support from Korean netizens; however, there are worries that NewJeans might face significant risks, echoing the scenario with the group Fifty Fifty, where three members were dismissed and sued after being influenced by external entities against their company’s interests.
