Epic Games has recently rolled out a new feature called Fortnite Ballistic, a thrilling 5v5 first-person shooter (FPS) match mode that adds an exciting twist to the diverse gameplay of Fortnite. However, despite the anticipation surrounding its launch on December 11, players have encountered significant challenges that have marred the experience right on day one.
As the debut day unfolded with enthusiasm, the launch was swiftly overshadowed by numerous matchmaking issues. Gamers voiced their frustrations on various social media platforms, lamenting the difficulties they faced in joining matches. This led to an inundation of complaints regarding the matchmaking errors that persisted, impacting the overall gaming experience.
Players Share Their Frustrations Online
Server malfunctions are all too common in online FPS games; however, Fortnite Ballistic users are facing particularly long wait times. This is surprising given that multiple game modes utilize similar matchmaking systems, which typically keep queues manageable.
One player expressed their discontent on X, saying, “I know Fortnite is having matchmaking errors with the new Ballistic mode, but has anyone been able to get in yet? If so, how is it so far? I’ve been trying to play for almost 40 minutes. It just keeps telling me I failed to cook, lol.” This statement underscores the frustratingly lengthy wait players are enduring.

Other users echoed similar frustrations, with one reporting, “Lmao, I got into one game of Ballistic. It said respawning, then I caught a glimpse of the map while it was loading… then it kicked me back to the lobby with more matchmaking errors.”
Reviving memories of Fortnite’s extended downtime during Chapter 5 Season 2, another player quipped: “This #Fortnite Ballistic Matchmaking Being Down Is As Painful As The Day Long C5S2 Downtime 😭.”
Despite the ongoing issues, a suggestion emerged from the community: trying out the Ranked mode as an alternative. Even though battling skilled opponents can be daunting, many players feel it’s preferable to experiencing long waits when trying to access matches.
In response to the backlash, the Fortnite Status account recently announced, “Matchmaking issues have now been resolved in Fortnite, including Ballistic.” While some players hailed this as a positive step from the development team, others continued to experience problems, stating, “In some games I can’t move, in another my teammate spawned in the completely wrong area, and in another I can’t shoot the enemy.”

For those fortunate enough to experience Fortnite Ballistic, feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. One elated player remarked, “This game mode is INCREDIBLY well done. It’s fast-paced, super fun, looks incredible and clean, and is overall exactly what I was hoping it would be.”
Another player shared their excitement, noting, “Just had a match where I had the most kills in the lobby and my team gave me the bomb every round LOL.” Many are optimistic that soon, all players eager to experience the thrill of Fortnite Ballistic will be able to do so without the hindrance of matchmaking issues.
