Fortnite Community Criticizes Game Developers’ Solution to Missing Jack Sparrow Ship Glider

Despite being the top reward in Fortnite’s Pirates of the Caribbean Cursed Sails event, players will have to wait to receive Jack Sparrow’s Ship Glider due to the event quests being bugged.

The Cursed Sails event for Fortnite began on July 19, 2024. Through completing a series of Pirate Code challenges, players have been able to earn a variety of free and premium skins and cosmetics inspired by Pirates of the Caribbean.

Despite the quests being plagued with various issues, including problems with quest completion and the granting of Battle Pass rewards, one reward in particular has been highly praised – the Jack’s Ship glider, which is considered to be the best free reward available in the pass.

Despite completing the four quests from each Pirate Code and obtaining all eight Map Pieces required to unlock the glider, many players have been unable to claim their reward due to technical difficulties.

On August 2, Fortnite released a statement on their FortniteStatus Twitter/X account to address the issue.

“We have been informed of an issue where certain players’ progress towards the Pirate Code Bonus Goals is not being accurately recorded. However, as long as you have collected all eight Map Pieces, the Jack’s Ship Glider will still be added to your Locker at the end of the event.”

A few individuals were patient and expressed appreciation for the resolution. “I was actually just about to ask about that. Thank you for informing us,”responded a Fortnite player who shared the sentiments of others.

Despite this, a large number of players were angry and anxious about whether they would truly obtain the renowned Pirates of the Caribbean glider.

“One player expressed their disappointment, stating, “This was a major letdown.”Another player demanded, “I expect to receive my glider after this event.”

A player remarked, “This is unacceptable. So, your solution is to make us wait three days to receive what we have rightfully earned?”Many others criticized Epic and deemed the waiting period as “ridiculous.”

According to Epic, once the Pirates of the Caribbean Cursed Sails event ends on August 6, 2024, Fortnite players will still have the opportunity to claim their free Jack’s Ship glider.
