Fortnite Community Criticizes Sabrina Carpenter Espresso Emote as “Garbage”

Pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter has made her debut in Fortnite, but fans are expressing dissatisfaction with Epic Games for what they believe is a flawed representation of her Espresso emote.

In 2024, Sabrina Carpenter has been a prominent figure, thanks to her chart-topping album ‘Short n’ Sweet’ and a series of hit tracks that have taken over both the airwaves and social media. Given her increasing popularity, it felt almost certain that she would eventually be featured in Fortnite.

This realization came to fruition on October 16, when a selection of her songs became available as Jam Tracks in the game store, complemented by unique emotes. One emote is designed to have players groove to Espresso, her most acclaimed single.

However, fans were let down to discover that the version of Espresso showcased in the emote was not the one they had enjoyed throughout the year. As highlighted in a Reddit thread by user ‘Emdoodev,’ the track has been significantly sped up.

Though this rendition, titled ‘Double Shot,’ was indeed released by Carpenter, the alteration has generated considerable disappointment among players. Numerous users commented on the post, criticizing Epic for not opting for the original version of the popular song, with many feeling that the emote was “ruined.”

“I don’t understand why Epic keeps using these awful sped-up versions,” remarked one user, and another stated: “It’s baffling how they believed this would be the right representation of one of the year’s biggest hits as an emote. I genuinely can’t wrap my head around it.”

Several even shared their first enthusiasm for purchasing the bundle, only to change their minds after hearing it.

“I was ready to buy the moment it became available… until I actually heard it,” lamented one player.

“I was on the verge of making the purchase, then the track played. I double-checked, just like most people probably did. Forget that; I’ll pass,” expressed another user.

Although the ‘Caffeinated’ emote features the Double Shot remix, the original version of Espresso remains accessible as a Jam Track, allowing players to utilize it during Fortnite Festival or as lobby music.

With the upcoming releases of Fortnite Chapter 2 OG and Chapter 6, players can expect to see even more beloved personalities making their way into the game.
