Fortnite Community Frustrated with “Most Dreaded Challenges Ever”

With the launch of Chapter 6, Fortnite introduced a new set of Expertise quests that players initially approached with enthusiasm. However, as the season progresses, many users are expressing their frustration over the overly challenging nature of these quests.

On December 1, 2024, Epic Games revamped the quest system by eliminating traditional Milestones found in modes like Fortnite OG. This change paved the way for Expertise quests, which require players to advance through different weapon-type tiers. While initially perceived as an innovative approach to earning experience points (XP) for leveling up the Battle Pass, player feedback suggests that the quests may be excessively demanding.

Community Frustration Over Expertise Quests

In a post on the FortniteBR subreddit, player Firetail_Taevarth vented his frustrations by stating: “Most useless challenges ever, this is just stage 2? How do they expect people to complete these before the season ends?” This sentiment resonates with many, as illustrated by his in-game screenshot showcasing the daunting task of dealing 5,000 headshot damage with assault rifles, for which he had managed only 406 headshots.

The backlash continued with another player remarking, “These are absolutely the worst challenges ever. I doubt they come back next chapter.” Others echoed this frustration, suggesting that the requirements be adjusted for a more manageable experience. One player mentioned, “They should at least be nerfed. I’m not even on tier 2 of any of these and I’m almost level 100.”

Moreover, players have raised concerns about the reward structure for these quests. The standard completion earns only 25K XP, similar to most other quests, with no accompanying cosmetic bonuses. The primary incentive lies in acquiring a Legendary weapon variant through in-game NPCs, based on completed Expertise Quest categories such as Assault Rifle, SMG, Shotgun, or Mask. However, some players feel this reward is inadequate, given that they can obtain a Legendary AR through alternative means, such as hacking the train or trading with Earth sprites.

This isn’t the first instance of Fortnite’s player base expressing dissatisfaction regarding quest difficulties. Shortly after the start of Chapter 6, many voiced their concerns about the changes to the XP system, indicating a troubling trend that appears to be ongoing.

As the community continues to grapple with the challenges presented by the new Expertise quests, it remains to be seen how Epic Games will address these issues in future updates.
