Fortnite players are puzzled about the age restriction placed on the Venom skin from the Marvel franchise, especially when other skins from more mature properties lack similar limitations.
In addition to its popular Battle Royale mode, Fortnite boasts an extensive range of cosmetics, featuring collaborations with various franchises alongside original character designs. The current season has introduced numerous new Marvel skins and items to enhance the gaming experience.
Fans have raised concerns in a Reddit thread, pointing out the unusual age restriction on the Venom cosmetic. Unlike most Fortnite skins, Venom is categorized as age-restricted, limiting its use in certain game modes.
One Reddit user expressed frustration over Venom being “marked as a 12+ skin” in Fortnite, questioning the rationale behind this decision, given the character’s popularity among both children and adults. In contrast, Fall Guys—a game rated for players aged “3+” —announced a similar Venom skin for their multiplayer platform.

One player pointed out the inconsistency: “How is it fair that a game designed to be safe for children has Venom unrestricted, yet Fortnite, aimed at teens, restricts him to 12+ experiences and doesn’t allow a Lego-style version, despite Venom’s numerous appearances in Lego media?”
Many users echoed similar thoughts, expressing confusion over the restriction on Venom’s skin. One commenter noted the irony that while Venom and Carnage are not allowed in certain modes, the Predator skin is allowed, despite being a horror-themed character. Another noted that iconic horror character Michael Myers is available for use in all game modes within Fortnite.
Some players questioned the T-rating placed on the symbiotes, pointing out, “They’re just Spider-Man villains; they’re not that bad. I understand restrictions for characters like Demogorgon and Xenomorph, but why the symbiotes?”
One user even deemed the skin rating system a “dumb decision,” arguing that kids active in Fortnite likely already own skins from adult-themed shows or engage with content they probably shouldn’t.
