Fortnite Community Reacts to Sudden Storm Update That Causes Instant Death

Fortnite players are displeased with the recent modifications to the storm mechanics in Fortnite Reload, which have accelerated Storm Sickness and resulted in immediate elimination.

The storm is a crucial element that impacts gameplay significantly. It poses a danger by gradually depleting your health and compels you to head towards the center of the map.

In Reload mode, players are accustomed to the gradual shrinking of the storm, allowing them to plan and remain within the Safe Zone. However, the latest patch has brought about a significant change.

On August 27, Fortnite made an announcement about a patch for Reload which features changes to loot and adjustments to the Storm Circles. The activation time for Storm Sickness has been increased, giving players less time to find safety.

Despite the developers’ promise to keep a close eye on Storm Circles in Reload and maintain a fun and action-packed experience, players are expressing their dissatisfaction with the update.

A Reddit user pointed out, “It’s frustrating that you instantly die in the storm without any warning or countdown to how long you can survive.”

One person also mentioned, “The danger remains. Therefore, even if you have 100 health, touching the storm for just a moment will result in instant death.”

Several players believe that the change is excessive. One player stated, “While I understand the need to prevent heal offs, this is going too far.”They suggested a slightly less severe change, saying, “Maybe a fifteen or twenty tick would still address the issue while allowing players to access the storm for a short time.”

A “healoff”tactic involves players camping in the storm and continuously using health kits to outlast opponents during the final stages of the game.

Despite players’ clear dissatisfaction with the decision, Epic Games implemented the insta-kill Storm Sickness as a means of discouraging a playstyle that involved sitting outside the storm with a backpack full of med-kits. This move was intended to send a message that this type of gameplay is not in line with their vision for the game.

Despite the changes brought on by the storm, Reload mode continues to be a fan favorite. It is especially favored by Fortnite streamer Ninja, who has referred to the current chapter as “for losers.”
