Fortnite players are advocating for the return of a weapon from early Chapter 5 as the “perfect” counter to the currently overpowered jetpacks in Season 4.
With the launch of Chapter 5 Season 4, an assortment of Marvel-themed items made their way to the Island. Among these was War Machine’s Hover Jets, enabling players to soar through the air at impressive speeds and potentially turn the tide of battles.
However, many in the Fortnite community have criticized the item for being too powerful. In response, Epic Games implemented several nerfs, significantly affecting the jetpack’s fuel efficiency, decreasing its speed, and lowering its spawn rate.
Despite these changes, players still believe the jetpack requires further adjustments. A Reddit user suggested that Epic Games could reintroduce the Chains of Hades from Chapter 5 Season 2 as a countermeasure.
A Redditor pointed out that the Chains of Hades would be the “ideal jetpack counter,” due to their past effectiveness against the high-flying Wings of Icarus Mythic.
Some players think that Epic should take the Chains a step further by redesigning them with a Ghost Rider theme to align with the ongoing Marvel crossover.
One fan proposed that they could even “introduce it as Ghost Rider mythic chains or an Omega Red ‘tentacle’ ability,” adding depth to the current gameplay mechanics.
As it stands, there is no indication that the Chains of Hades or any Ghost Rider-themed items will be making an appearance in Fortnite in the near future. Players will need to find alternative strategies to tackle the jetpack issue.
Interestingly, players have devised an “evil” trick to deal with War Machine’s Hover Jets by seeking them out and hiding them from others.
The timeline for when Epic will provide more solutions remains uncertain, but players should note that the jetpack is not a permanent fixture. It is likely that the Mythic will be vaulted when Chapter 5 Season 4 concludes on November 2.
