Fortnite Gives Dabi and Shoto the Reunion My Hero Academia Never Could

Recently, in Fortnite, fans of My Hero Academia were able to find some resolution in the Dabi and Shoto Todoroki storyline. Players on the platform portrayed the two siblings in a friendly way, providing closure for some fans. Although this was meant to be a humorous moment in the popular video game series, it also showcased how certain fans of the anime and manga believe that the conclusion of Dabi and Shoto’s story could have been improved.

The My Hero Academia manga revealed that Dabi and Shoto Todoroki were brothers, leading to a final battle between the two that also involved their family.

Although it is understandable that Dabi, also known as Toya Todoroki, became mentally unstable due to Endeavor’s selfish actions in the story, resulting in his descent into villainy and committing heinous acts, there are some fans who would have preferred to see him reconcile with his younger brother and have a more positive resolution.

This article includes spoilers for the series. Please be aware before reading.

Fortnite’s Heartwarming Moment between Dabi and Shoto from My Hero Academia

A video shared on X by user @tokitokitoya depicted Dabi and Shoto Torodoki playing Fortnite together and engaging in playful and amicable interactions. This caused some fans to lament the outcome of their sibling relationship in the manga. Although the series has not reached its conclusion, it can be assumed that Dabi’s storyline has ended as he was last seen cursing his family before potentially meeting his demise, although his death has not been confirmed.

Toya Todoroki, also known as Dabi, was the eldest son of the hero Endeavor. Endeavor had high hopes for Toya, training him to become a hero and surpass even All Might. However, as Toya’s flames became too powerful and dangerous for Endeavor to handle, the hero chose to stop his training and focus on his other children. This left Toya feeling neglected and overlooked.

Despite surviving a massive fire, Toya was ultimately rescued by the same villain who caused it, All For One. However, instead of being grateful, Toya was consumed by anger and bitterness, ultimately becoming a villain himself. He took on the identity of Dabi and sought to destroy his own family. This led to a climactic showdown between Dabi and his younger brother Shoto, during which Dabi’s own flames nearly burned him to death.

Is Dabi’s ending the best?

Despite Endeavor’s undeniable role in contributing to Dabi’s villainous transformation in My Hero Academia, there is a valid case to be made that this character did not warrant redemption. Despite Dabi’s main issues being with his father, he made the conscious decision to take the lives of innocent individuals who had no part in his personal grievances.

Additionally, Dabi did not hesitate to harm his own family, including his brother Natsuo, during his descent into villainy, demonstrating the extent of his downfall. As a result, it was likely a wise choice for author Kohei Horikoshi to conclude his arc as a villain, as the excessive number of abilities he acquired in the final battle may have negatively influenced people’s perceptions of the character.

Final Thoughts

Despite the fact that their arc together holds significance for both the manga and the fandom, Fortnite provided My Hero Academia fans with a sense of closure for the sibling relationship between Dabi and Shoto. It was a delight for many to see the two bonding over roasting marshmallows and participating in other activities together.
