Fortnite Introduces Day of Doom LTM: Avengers Can Now “Fight Back”

Fortnite’s latest Limited Time Mode (LTM), Day of Doom, faced significant criticism upon its launch with update v31.20 due to noticeable gameplay imbalances. Players quickly highlighted the uneven dynamics in this new mode, which was intended to showcase a battle between the Avengers and Doom’s Henchmen.

In this setup, the so-called “mighty” heroes appeared to lack the necessary strength, struggling against the surprisingly overpowered henchmen. Players found the henchmen to be comically dominant, while the heroes seemed severely under-equipped, lacking the power necessary to compete effectively.

Doom’s allies were able to gather Arcane Artifacts to enhance their abilities, and at one point, one player even had the opportunity to assume the role of Doom himself, gaining access to formidable superpowers. In stark contrast, the Avengers were left to utilize random loadouts that resembled mere pool toys rather than the legendary weapons fans expected.

Players took to Reddit to express their frustrations. One user succinctly summarized the sentiment, stating: “The villains have all the Doom mythics, high-damage weapons, and ways to escape while the heroes are left with nerfed gear and no chance to win.”

After participating in around a dozen rounds on the first day, many players concluded that the Day of Doom LTM resembled “less of a battle between heroes and villains and more of an endless cycle dominated by Doom.”

In response to the community outcry, Epic Games took action. In a post on X, they rolled out a series of balance adjustments aimed at giving the Avengers a fighting chance.

The recent updates include increased Shield for heroes and faster regeneration, allowing them to endure longer in battles. Additionally, Doctor Doom’s Arcane Gauntlet now experiences a slightly longer cooldown after deploying a Mystical Bomb. Moreover, the infamous Infinite Shockwave Grenade, favored by villains, has also been assigned a longer cooldown period.

Players have already begun to notice the positive impact of these adjustments. One fan declared, “This is the change we needed!” while another enthusiastically stated, “Now the heroes actually stand a chance. I’m hyped to jump back in!”

Though this hotfix aims to create a more balanced experience, the future of Fortnite remains uncertain, particularly with ongoing rumors regarding Captain Jones’ fate.

For now, however, the Avengers can take a sigh of relief, knowing that Doctor Doom’s impending reign of terror might finally be challenged.
